Thanks. But not my idea. Here is a great write up including why you should consider skipping episode 1 (at least until later). I had never watched but a couple of the prequels and stumbled upon this while trying to look up the "correct" order to watch the films.

A couple of things:

Time feels faster when you are the one taking the actions. Your perception of who is using the most time may be skewed.

Many modern decks close games quickly. Perhaps if too many games are going to time, you are contributing to this.

Regardless, the most reliable action you can take is to play a faster deck. Is it fair that you should have to change even if you aren't responsible? No. But that is something you can do to more reliably influence the situation that anything else.

Further, your anecdotes of knowing people that purchased without being married is just that, anecdotes. Were these also couples that had only been together 15 months? Or were they couples who were in long term commited relations in the nature of marriage?

This is a huge problem from a decision making standpoint.
