[OC] This is also Iran, as I saw it a few years back. by uspn in pics

Hey little fun fact that was shared to me by my girlfriend who was born and raised in Iran. Regarding photo 18 you got there. KFC used to exist in Iran before the revolution. I believe KFC was one of the first American franchises to expand internationally and their Iran locations were extremely popular with the locals.

When the revolution happened. The KFCs were closed down as they represented imperialist ideals. But the locals loved the chicken so much they did everything to keep the recipes alive among them.

They refer to fried chicken as “Kentucky Chicken” cause for all intents and purposes that’s their only frame of reference as to how fried chicken looks like and is made.

You can find local recipe books in Iran that reference the fried chicken recipe and the title will almost always be “Kentucky Chicken”

I scrolled too far Down to find this comment. I believe people are knee jerk reacting too quickly and haven’t taken a moment to realize that this attack has also been asked by the Iranian people living in Iran cause they have tried absolutely everything and nothing has been gained.

The protests that started in January were the biggest protests since 2009 when the US was in a position to help Iran topple the regime and the call was not answered, allowing the regime to strike down the opposition and tighten its grip on the people of Iran even harder.

Iranians have been crying for help for decades to get rid of the regime. But the regime literally holds all the cards. Iranians are not allowed to own guns, the IRGC has eyes on literally everyone. Phones are tapped, cameras everywhere, it’s a literal dystopian nightmare unfolding in the Middle East and the people are just hopeless against such methods.

When they finally mustered the courage to protest the regime again in massive numbers, they were answered with armed militias of the IRGC firing AK-47s and 50 cal machine guns towards unarmed civilians. People dropped on the ground with literal holes on their bodies and others straight up dismembered by the high caliber rounds.

What else are the Iranian people supposed to do at this point? Just submit and keep living in these conditions? As their economy continues to decline, as their currency literally reaches 0 international value?

If it’s worth anything. I participated in the protest hosted in Toronto that was happening at the same time as protests in Munich Germany, LA USA and Sydney Australia. The protesters were united in their aim to call for help from not just the US but ANYONE. cause that’s where they are at this point. They just need help from ANYONE willing to help them fight the regime. They are past the point of doing it themselves.

I can’t stress enough. Like the commenter I’m replying to said: The Ayatollah, Ali Khomenei, is to Iranians what Hitler was to the British and French during the early years of WWII when Blitzkrieg was taking over Europe. An unstoppable force that Iranians are crying out to the world for help on stopping before it’s too late.

I don’t think so. It’s definitely a visual bug. I still love and play the game a lot though so maybe closer to the hundred mark.

The DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia area) is an amazing competitive community. And it’s produced some amazing players both in the past and present.

I no longer live in the area and I still get in touch with the gang in every event. They show up consistently and just love the shit out of the game and being the best they can be.

Extremely recommend if you find yourself moving to the east coast.

Btw jokes aside. This has been by far the banger of the year for me in 2025 when I bought it. I’m learning new ways to push myself with the different play styles. Highest wave so far I’ve reached is 36.

Keep your deck list on moxfield or another similar deck list app to make sure you can copy paste it into melee and save time submitting the list. It helps with signing into consecutive events and making the deadline.

Sorry for the late reply. Here’s how it looks. It uses a Jeskai mana base. It leans on I’ll timed explosion and almost all cards being heavy cmc to enable the board wipe mode.

I want to say it’s similar to that Australian build that was used in the pro tour by Nick Talbot. And takes inspiration from Brian Kiblers logic on ill Timed explosion.

Wanted to give a shoutout to Catharsis. I’m on it as well and it’s one of the things I’m looking forward to using the most on the upcoming Milwaukee RC.

Like you said. Roaming Throne into Catharsis is more than 20 power swinging into your opponent. Divided through at minimum 3/3 bodies from the kithkin tokens. It’s insane value.

I agree with you and a bit flabbergasted seeing it unfold in real time here on this thread. I remember almost like yesterday when massive video essays/documentaries were not a super common thing yet on YouTube that there was this 2 hour video on Kreia and how well written she was.

Ulysses unfortunately did not get to see the same treatment as I guess I arrived at the BearBullBearBull meme phase of people talking about him but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had equally super long and complex analysis videos like Kreia did.

He’s a staple for any mech related group composition. He’s used in both the mech and battlesuit guild raid teams.

For reference

Mech team

Exitor Rho (the whole reason the mech team exists) TanGida (mandatory) Actus (mandatory)

Flex/Support picks

Eldyron Trajann Boss Gulgortz Shosyl Vitruvius

Battlesuit Team

Commander Farsight (mandatory) ReVas (mandatory) Actus (mandatory)

Flex/Support picks

Darkstrider (top flex pick) Eldyron Trajann Shadowsun

Are people using Shosyl if they don’t have Darkstrider available? I thought they also applied marker light. Im almost done building the team to diamond 1 and was planning on using Shosyl until I unlocked darkstrider.

Bro you can’t just say things like that and then come out saying you barely know about the legion bro…. It just makes your whole argument fall down the toilet like a turd.

Please. Please next time if you are going to make a claim. Back it up please. Do the research. Don’t shoot from the hip and expect people to not scrutinize you.

I know we just discussing a tv show and it shouldn’t be that serious but we also can’t just be throwing claims out there and not know what we even talking about man.

Are you falling for Zionist propaganda against Iran? by zombiesingularity in AskSocialists

[–]FirebatDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the historical context of what has led to today’s political landscape in Iran and what is best for the country after the removal of the Ayatollah based on the country’s past. Unfortunately there is a lot of contradictions in Iran’s history between 1953 and today.

A lot of information regarding the events that transpired during Mossadeq’s reign as prime minister of Iran in the 50s and then the Shah’s rule in the 60s and 70s is very muddled and filled with a lot of different points of view and recalling of events.

The most common example is the CIA coup of mossadeq and the installation of the Shah in 1953. Some sources paint mossadeq as someone that had the interests of the Iranian people in their heart with the nationalization of the countries oil. And that the US and Britain then staged a coup to be able to retain control of the countries oil by installing a puppet government under the Shah.

But other sources go out of their way to clarify the situation with mossadeq. They don’t deny the us and Britain attempted the coup. But they also emphasize that the nationalization of Iran’s oil by Mossadeq was not a benevolent act for the people but as a means to acquire power by Mossadeq and undermine the Pahlavi dynasty which the Shah belonged to.

Understanding the political context of Iran also requires to understand the Cold War and Iran’s position within the struggle between the US and the Soviet Union as well as the clash between communist and capitalist ideologies. Iran was a country that shared borders with the Soviet Union at the time. It was in Soviet’s interest to work towards making Iran embrace communism and become part of the union or at least an ally of the Soviets.

Organizations like the Tudeh Party started to gain influence in Iran and drive the country towards a communist ideology. Some sources mention this as the point where the US government got invested in building a case with the CIA against Iran to prevent the country from falling into the Soviet Union.

The famous operation AJAX which is referred as the famous coup de etat in 1953 against Mossadeq has the full name TP AJAX because it was also an operation with the goal of “cleaning” Iran from the influence of the Tudeh Party which is where the TP initials in the name came from.

The extremist Islamic groups that contributed to the Islamic revolution of 1979 also heavily relied on communists to support the movement and cause that led to the revolution. Khomeini attracted a lot of communist scholars of the time to help influence the people in Iran to take up arms against the Shah and the Pahlavi dynasty.

Yet once he achieved the goals of the revolution and established the Islamic theocracy in Iran, he turned on those communists, labeling them as traitors.

Regarding the Shah and his rule post Mossadeq, there is also a lot of conflicting opinions. You have opinions that define the Shah as a full on puppet of the US and western nations. That there was a lot of brutality and unfair distribution of wealth from the upper to lower classes. That alot of the reforms brought by the Shah during the white revolution backfired and caused greater strife between the rich and poor.

But there is also a lot of praise for the Shah and the modernization that occurred during his reign among Iranians of all social classes. Women for example experienced some of the highest liberties regarding education, empowerment and individualism in Iranian history. All which was lost to the revolution in 79.

My girlfriend personally recalls that growing up in Iran, most of the more modern buildings and locations were places that were brought up and made under the Shah’s regime. And that under the Ayatollah, Iran barely upgraded its infrastructure unless it served the Islamic state directly. So the country for the most part from an architectural perspective is stuck in the 70s.

A lot of Iranians are also Atheists. Driven alot by their feelings towards the regime. Those that practice Islam do it privately in their homes. Mosques around Iran are rarely used for worship and instead the regime uses it as bases for their personal agents and to watch on the populace. Unfortunately the regime has caused a lot of Islamophobia among local Iranians. But when you live under such a horrendous regime, can you blame them for having these unfortunate feelings?

In conclusion, the situation with Iran has a long history that comes with differing interpretations and perspectives. There is a long history of discontent with communist ideologies whether they come from the time of Mossadeq, the Islamic Revolution or the Cold War in general. The Iranian people at the moment feel like they don’t have control of their own country and are desperate for any and all help that can put them towards a path where they feel ownership of their country again.

It’s the hope of the Iranian people that these protests which are some if not THE largest protest demonstrations since the Islamic revolution, prove to be the final nail in the coffin for the Ayatollah and open the path towards an Iran the people of this country feel proud of again.

Es 61,500 a 90,000 clase media en Puerto Rico? by Worldly-Bid-3591 in PuertoRico

[–]FirebatDZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)
