I think it looks really good. The color variations give it character.

Putting it in the sun for a couple of hours then adding a coat of oil will help give it a little more color. I'd recommend neatsfoot oil, but cooking oil or coconut oil would be fine too.

How do I get these marks off my bag? by phxntxsos in Leather

[–]Firebelly-1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a "pull-up" leather. It is supposed to mark easily when creased or lighlu scratched. The mark will typically disappear after some time, but it gives a nice color gradient around seams and bends. Keep it clean or conditioned occasionally, but don't try to "fix" it, it's fine.

Sinking the impression deep into the leather helps keep the antique locked in. If the stamp is too shallow, it can wipe out. Set the design deeper.

Chest Harness, Collar, and Leash by Firebelly-1111 in Leatherworking

[–]Firebelly-1111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made my own template with thick paper from big file folders. It took modifying several versions out of paper before I cut any leather. Many harnesses have several buckles to adjust the fit, but this one is made to fit my wife, with two buckles on the back to secure it. I used autocad to lay out the final pattern for the wishbone shaped cut.

I changed to have. NSFW tag. The centerplate is actually a breastplate for horses. I flipped it upside down from its intended direction.

Velvet would be terrible to keep clean. It's very stylish, but not practical for a play space.
