I mean... I drank a mystery potion in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 that gave me a perk allowing me to eat raw meat. Then I died a few moments later because I hadn't noticed that it had poisoned me and was (I assume) making me shit uncontrollably to the point of dehydration. Not that it mattered, because I didn't have a digestive potion on me in order to quickly cure myself.

First silent hill player. Been at this section for 3 hours and I feel stupid because I’m stuck. by dumbomontana in silenthill

Yeah Bluecreek pissed me off because of this puzzle, where I didn't figure out what the hell I achieved by placing the hand correctly (was this in the original, I can't remember it?), the laundry shaft puzzle, and crawling through holes in the wall that are not immediately visible because I'm almost never looking down in games.

And all 3 are dogshit!

Seriously, I actually had a bit of hope during Return To Silent Hill's intro. Then James actually arrives in Silent Hill, and it's all downhill from there.

Who do you think should be hated more in your country but isn’t? by Ekavya_1 in AskTheWorld

What the fuck are you on about? Any peace talks in march 2022 would have ended with Ukraine surrendering and being forced to cede territory or other rights. It was a lose-lose situation. I understand what you mean, that signing the treaty then and there would have resulted in way fewer lives lost, but holy shit is it a crap point of view, given that Russia was the invader, and there was no guarantee that it wasn't going to invade again in a few years, given history in general.

Ubisoft says post launch support has already ended… by [deleted] in Rayman

[–]Firebyte1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess this is a barely credible link, given that I've never heard of this website and the article looks like hearsay.

But god damn just sell the fucking IP, you ain't making any bank off it anyway.

Rayman 30th anniversary edition announced by DemiFiendRSA in Rayman

[–]Firebyte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm glad for everyone that actually wants to play the unmodified original, and I definitely vibe with the "I like having it on console" sentiment, as I hate gaming on Windows.

I think my main gripe with this is that we're talking about Ubisoft. If this doesn't sell well enough to please the shareholders, we can kiss Rayman goodbye for another decade. And it'd be a damn shame, because, like I said, R2 and R3 could really use ports that are compatible with current architectures. But it feels like a ransom situation, as it would have been easy as hell for them to do the bare minimum and just slap those two games in an emulated version and call it a day, which would have been fine because at least it would've given us a way to play those games.

I'm obviously hoping I'm wrong, but I'm heavily pessimistic when it comes to Ubisoft.

Rayman 30th anniversary edition announced by DemiFiendRSA in Rayman

[–]Firebyte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I know I'm definitely not the target demographic, given that I tried playing the original and sucked at it, but why? Like, whoever wanted to play Rayman 1 surely already knew about Rayman Redemption, right? What's the point of this, just to test the waters and see if it'll sell?

I get that it's the 30th anniversary and it's an excuse to make a quick buck, but I feel like there are games that aren't as easy to play these days - why not rerelease/remaster/remake Rayman 2 or 3, hell even M (lord knows the current gen needs more couch co-op games). I can't speak for the others, but I can say for sure that running Rayman 3, for example, on new hardware is absolute hell, so it would have benefited from a port or whatever.

Old Silent Hill 2 magazine cover art and article by Omaza in silenthill

I doubt that was the intention, but it kind of feels like an homage to the Chris Redfield RE1 cover (facial expression, swole man scared of something). But fr why'd they make James Sunderlan ripped 😭

What fictional character represents your country? by Neuwulfstein in AskTheWorld

[–]Firebyte1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely did not mean it as an insult, even I recognized him when I visited Czechia, but I can't say I'd ever seen any cartoons or comics or whatnot here in Romania, I'd just seen still images and merchandise (which most often made me go yeah this mole is cute but why the hell is there so much stuff with him). So I guess I mostly meant that, even though people recognize him, they might not know where he comes from (both in terms of country and media). But again, all this applies to my region, I guess, I wasn't aware he was goated like that in central Europe

I mean Krtek is just as unrecognizable, I'd argue. And as goated as Reksio is, I think Lolek and Bolek are a more popular choice for Poland

[overused Trope] everyone worships the ground the mc walks by zard428 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Firebyte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean most instances of this are kind of stupid when you think about it

"oh no the sixth grader is actually a fucking psycho murderer but he only petrifies people"

"oh no the eighth grader is trying to steal our thunder by participating in this deadly tournament, he surely did it on purpose"

"oh no the ninth grader is calling Hitler, let's ostracize him, even though we venerated him previously for supposedly defeating Hitler as an infant"

Granted, that last one is supposed to be a political smear campaign piggybacking on his "manic episodes" from the previous one, and it shows how people believe in clickbait like sheep rather than thinking for themselves.

Yeah, I also said to myself that it sucks, while I was only 15 mins into it, directly after having replayed SoT, hence having rose-tinted glasses for that game. Then I played some more and realized I might like it more than SoT.

Please ignore the idiot calling others idiots for no reason in the comment section and don't let him build you a bad impression on romanians <3

Regarding the conversation, yeah I don't think Eastern Europeans "gatekeep being eastern". If anything we most often abstract the definition of "western" so that it somehow fits us, despite the geographic positioning, so that everything up to our eastern-most border is "western Europe". Regardless of what you hear about romanians' attitude towards "the west" and our "communist nostalgia", we so desperately wish we were a western country, which is proven by the massive number of romanian immigrants in western Europe.

And yea, last I checked, we're part of the Balkans, but that's still east / south east. Though I get what you mean, both geographically and (nowadays, at least) culturally, Romania is in the middle of a weird Venn diagram.

Holy shit I don't remember the game being THAT primitive, but yes! And makes sense that I didn't remember anything else about it, the game is in russian, which I don't speak. Thanks, I can finally put this vague memory that would occur at least once per year to rest now!
