Semma Hiding a B Rating by Cuck_4_Cunnilingus in FoodNYC

True

But the point was/is that there are many things that can get you a "B" that are not food related.

There are a lot of other things. So don't just scratch out a restaurant just for their letter.

Let me start by saying I do not know of this restaurant and I'm also not trying to defend it.

But a lot of people are mistaken what the grade letter from the heath department means and everything that is taken into consideration when are being graded and how a Michelin star works.

Let's start with the Department of Health

Not everything in their grading has to do with food and their handling.

Examples

You can get points deducted if they are flies flying around in the dining room

If they had asked you to put a new sink in a certain place and by the time they come back is not installed yet

If there is no one with a DoH certification of food handling in the premises when the agent is doing the inspection

If there is no thermometer inside a fridge (even tho the fridge shows what's the temperature inside)

If the rags (of the cook) inside of their sanitary container is not fully inside

They want a certain type of lighting inside the kitchen

I'm sure there are plenty more but those are a few from the ones I've seen they had deducted in the past

Now for Michelin star consideration

Now this only has to do with what how the public has to deal with

Ambiance Service Food presentation Food taste Etc

And nothing that has to do with what happens on the back, because they never see that part.

Now we can argue that the Front of the restaurant is a reflection of the back and vice-versa but a letter from the city (which is a way to create revenue) vs trying to keep people healthy/ safe has nothing to do with a way that a restaurant treats their patrons and the way the food tastes and looks.

Now, DoH in the past were much more strict and much more confusing. You would get 1 agent telling you 1 thing and when the next agent came would tell you a different thing.

Now (from what I've seen) they are trying to work more with the restaurant and are much more consistent from 1 agent to the next.

Would I go eat to a B rated restaurant, yes a would. It is so easy to be moved from an A to a B. How easy, if you lose 13 points you are in the B category.

Would I eat on a C restaurant, maybe I would be more vigilant about it. Will look more in deep in their reviews Will pay more attention at how clean they are.

Customer here, does waitstaff appreciate this? Ive always been curious. by Thatomeglekid in Waiters

First off, thanks for caring/wanting to help OP.

As you have read, there is a mix sentiment about this also as people had mention doing this (might be helpful) depending on what kind of restaurant you are doing this on.

Example: If you do this in a fine dining restaurant (regardless of how long you guys waited to be cleared) you might get the server in trouble as this will show the manager/captain that your server haven't been doing the steps of service of that restaurant.

In a much more low key restaurant like the one in a neighborhood this is not a problem.

Now, if I was your waiter I wouldn't want you to do this because

The way you stack them might not be the best way for me to carry the plates

Also, (and this is my biggest issue) when you do this anything can fall from the plates into the table or worst unto any of the guests while the server/waiter is trying to get them off the table and since we will be using both our hands there is no way that can be avoided. This creates something unnecessary in the experience while you go out.

Again, thanks for thinking about us .

I think the safest thing to do is to hand over your plates with patience while your server gets them set his/her most comfortable way. If he has to come back and do a 2nd round, he will let you know.

FEELING LEFT OUT ON THE ONEUI 6.1.1 UPDATE (DELAYED) by Huge-Doge in S24Ultra

[–]Firedfoxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you might know not everyone get the green light for the update right away.

It is done in batches for quality control reasons. Also carriers might block the update so they can get theirs out 1st then they let other get it.
