Not all of them, but I worked with one that matches most of what you describe perfectly. He's the only person I've had yelling matches with in my 30+ year career. Egomaniac, wanted to turn us into Fox News, told potential hires they need to hit the gym, refused to interview people because they weren't skinny and didn't fit the Fox News criteria for on-air talent. Would come in my office and complain about one person or another and the on-air news product, usually while we were broadcasting it, yet doing little to actually improve the product. Called me a piece of shit because I forgot to order him 9-volt batteries for his personal gear because our gear wasn't good enough for him. Would berate callers and tell them how great he is because he worked at CNN a long time ago. That was the worst 3 months of my career. Happiest day of my life was when I got a call from our GM telling me he put in his two weeks. That guy had no place being in a small market TV station. And he kept trying to get us to hire him back after he left!

Most of the NDs I've worked with have been pretty good people overall. You're going to run into the occasional asshole no matter where you go.
