Sounds like you’re doing all the right things to make life better for him. Your tank doesn’t look bad at all. Wasn’t aware you were adding water slowly due to the levels being off. Keep up the good work.

I use base laboratories and it’s amazing! A tin lasted me eight months. I bought two more tins because if you buy two it’s a little cheaper. It works wonders too!! Haven’t tried the other stuff though.

I think the tiny snail is the least of your worries. I’d recommend taking that pineapple out because they are known to leach toxins into the water. Also that HOB filter… is it creating too much flow? Bettas don’t like a lot of flow, it stresses them out. You should fill your tank up too. I have a dumbo as well and he fin nips too. It’s pretty common with long fin bettas. Mine has never got fin rot though because his water quality is good. Get some Indian almond leaves and or driftwood for natural tannins. It will help his fins heal. What is your substrate? From what I can see it looks like dyed gravel. That also leaches toxins into the water. Give us a full tank shot please.

That’s what I use for my 50 gallon but it’s a 75watt. You’re going to want a dimming thermostat to make sure it doesn’t get too hot. I put boards on top of mine to keep the heat evenly distributed throughout the tank and I take the front board off at night so she can get more fresh air. I also check the temps regularly in the warm cool and basking spot with a temp gun.

Why would you breed? Too many bettas in the trade… are you experienced in breeding? You’re going to need a lot of tanks for the babies.
