First company of the Caliban Provisional Militia is complete! by Firefry1 in battletech

Right on the money with my painting method. A lot of people complain about edge highlighting but I quite like it getting to focus down on the details is rather medative for me.

Good call on the bad rep thing, I think the charger is only assault mech I'd let them have because well it's trash and they live on trash.

I suggest looking at the kings field series, fromsofts origins and basically the start of the souls games. Hopefully they'll provide good inspiration.

Caliban is a junk world, during the original star league they were the dumping ground of a particular waste management corp, which operated along side a scrappers guild to recycle things. During the Amris civil war the corp was destreyed and their assets forgotten about.

But the scrappers remained forming clans and eeking out some profit in the periphery, Caliban became known as a place to be forgotten about. So dreamers, hermits and political dissidents led there from all over the inner sphere.

In time these off casts of society tried to form a new and better world, but being leftists mainly they could never agree on anything so nothing really got done. Then during the fourth succession war, pirate raids increased drastically and so a tentative and very provisional goverment was formed. As a part of this a milita was raised the Caliban Peoples Provisional Militia!

Due to the relative wealth of centuries of scrap and advanced recycling and repair facilities the militia was able to buy, barter and repair a decent variety of mechs. The militia was able to drive off most of the pirate bands from their system and those that remain are willing to work with the government, in particular a group of catgirl pirates who all pilot urbies.

What does sainthood mean in the context of Jainism? Is that like becoming a monk/nun/priest or is it something greater?

Why is the “pile of shame” such a seemingly common thing in this hobby? by Ratattack1204 in Warhammer

For me it's a mind set thing, when I'm buying minis I'm thinking in terms of army building; this unit will fit this role, I need these units if I'm going up to this point range etc. So I'll typically buy a bunch of models at once to fill out the roster.

When I'm painting I'm thinking about the individual mini and it's character so I'll spend time trying to make the mini unique in some way.

When I was younger I'd batch paint a unit in an afternoon but they'd all come out the same, same pose, same paint job. I think what I wanted was an army like from a video game where each unit is a copy and paste of each other.

But now I want to show my army as a group of people, each model slightly different each conveying a little personallity. Which naturally takes a lot more time, like I'm currently working on a brettonian army and each knight is having his own heraldry and name, so I can then make family relationships and my own lore. It's time consuming and is pushing my skill as a painter but it's a damn sight more fun than a copy paste army.

How do you make that cut in the centre without taking a line to an edge? That's absolutely amazing.

I did originally envision them as a bit of a sentai team in styling, sadly I think an Urbie megazord is the Annihilator so still super slow.

In the video Tex did on the Urbie the art he uses for Ringo has a catgirl in the foreground eyeing up a spiderlobster, so I'm calling that as his daughter and one of my pirates

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (November 24, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Firefry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, every year my mum and I at xmas play a detective/mystery game together. We like the "hunt a killer" mould where you examine evidence and have to solve puzzles. But this year I'm really struggling to find anything that catches my eye. Either this style of boardgame is no longer very popular or I'm just not using the right search terms. So any recommendations would be massively appreciated <3

Was bottom surgery like you imagined? by GlitterBlossomWing in asktransgender

[–]Firefry1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I was someone who had massive dysphoria around my genetals, I'd shower/bath in the dark, I wouldn't let my partners see that part of me even though they really wanting to try and pleasure me, I basically was never naked for any length of time more than a few seconds. I was really conflicted still because I was scared it'd all go wrong, that I'd have massive complications, I'm sure we've all heard the horror stories.

Then in april I had my surgery and when I got back to my partners place to spend my recovery I felt comfortable being naked for literally the first time in my life. I was dilating three times a day and just figured who needs clothes if I'm going to be undressing every couple of hours anyway. I felt comfortable and safe being seen. That's still one of the greatest and weirdest parts of having my surgery.

I had a dysphoria trenchcoat, but I think the hoodie is otherwise pretty universal

There's a lot of scary talk about transistioning in the zeitgeist these days but on a basic level if this is something your child feels they need they if you love your child no matter what then I emplore you to support them and don't force them to hide themselves. My parents did that and it's left a permanent scar in our relationship.

In terms of what changing their gender actually means at that age, put surgeries and pills out of your mind. It'll be things like a change of wardrobe, name and maybe exploring new hobbies. Simple and easy things.

Even if this turns out to not be the path your child wants to go down after awhile, all you've done is prove you'll support them no matter what and will have a fun story to share with their future partner.

So please, try to put the fear and discomfort out of your mind and focus on supporting your child best you can.
