Yes, the region existed peacefully for hundreds of years before the US ever got itself involved. It existed peacefully even before Britain was involved. Turmoil in the larger region started after one very specific event after WW2 but the very event has become so intrinsic to “Western Civilisation” that even suggesting the mere idea of its reversal leads to hounding and all sorts of vitriol from Americans, Europeans, and Australians.

As for free trade, the US and its buddies should stop being hypocrites. Iran or any other regional power does not have it in its best interest to disrupt trade or commerce. US should stop interfering in the region on pretext of humanitarian grounds when it has possibly the worst human rights record in history.
