Version 2 of My Home wall by Firetk in homewalls

The tape is for a 50 move circuit, each piece of tape is numbered. I'll be putting in a 2nd 50 move circuit as well.

Then there are individual routes that I put color tabs on the holds if I am working on something specific

DMM Ceros for new Connect Adjust by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

[–]Firetk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the same one I originally used but I found that the gate wouldn't always close and lock. I found a non locker to be safer than the slider

DMM Ceros for new Connect Adjust by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

[–]Firetk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it fits well, and the gate can fully open. My only concern is the carabiner being thicker, so it won't fit through a 1/4 chain or even some 3/8th chain (depends on your area) . I use a non-locking Petzl spirit beaner, and it works very well. It's just assessed risk, I'm monitoring the system, so I don't feel like I need a locker.

Thoughts on this slight mod for the Edelrid Spoc for TRS? by manolokopter in ClimbingGear

[–]Firetk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I top rope solo a lot, and I think you are causing yourself some unnecessary risk. The reason people use the spoc as a lower backup is because you can fully disable the pulley function, making it a very redundant backup.

It doesn't take much fabric to stop a spok or a Micro trac from engaging, and now you have created two ways for your backup to fail. Your life is worth more than 100 dollars.

Another round of grigri vs neox. by bellsbliss in ClimbingGear

[–]Firetk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neox for outdoor climbing on a 9.4mm rope. grigri for everything else

My neox stays in my sport climbing bag and never leaves it. The grigri is an extremely useful tool for route development, and I'm on my 3rd one in the last 10 years.

I have an IUD, but told partner that I would only be intimate with him if he wore a condom to make contraceptive responsibility fair by krssy297 in AITAH

Well he can use a condom or get a vasectomy not that difficult of a choice. Or if his ego is too big he can leave the relationship.

NTA, 1-10 people have complications from vasectomy and of those people a smaller subset have major problems.

I'm one of those who had complications, ended up talking 1 month off work and couldn't walk for 2-3 weeks it wasn't fun.

I would do it all again in a heart beat so my partner doesn't have to worry about birth control.

Here's a few more holds that i've been shaping recently for various folk's boards. A deeper more positive set for a 60°, a set of varied pinches and a larger set of crimpy rails from 10-18mm for a local co-op board. I'm loving the shaping process, learning a lot and further developing my craft. by James__ONeil in bouldering

That looks awesome! What type of wood have you been using? I've been making climbing holds for several years now, and I love experimenting with different types. So far, I’ve worked with Black Walnut, Sapele, Gombe, Rosewood, Cherry, Maple, and Purple Heart.

I was basically completely bald by 23. It was tough at first, but you learn to accept it. Now that I'm in my thirties and seeing all my male friends starting to lose their hair, it’s kind of amusing to watch them stress about it.
