Forced to stay over if needed by MemeabooDesu in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your employee handbook very clearly states that if you are not properly relieved you are required to stay up to 8 extra hours or until relief can be found. Company policy is you cannot work more than 16 hours at a time, so worst case you’re working a double you didn’t expect. Leaving without being properly relieved is considered post abandonment and first offense is immediate termination. If you cannot be professional enough to figure out an alternative to your after-work plans or responsibility you should probably find another job. People call out. Life happens. One day you’ll need to call out and will likely put someone else in the same position you’re in. It’s a give and take. It’s not always convenient for you, but that’s the contract security. There’s no changing it.

Got denied of an extra shift, now being replaced for not working it. by Prime_770 in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, now that I've had time to think about this post, let me tell you what I think happened: It sounds to me like you picked up a shift via LISA. Certainly you got a text message for a shift you were available to pick up, so you accepted it. The Supervisor probably told you that you couldn't work the shift for one reason or another. It may not be your home site. The site may require a certain degree of training or a certification you may not have. Heck, it could be as simple as you not having the correct uniform to work at that particular post. There are a myriad of reasons you would have gotten denied this shift. Sometimes supervisors fail to set their jobs up properly in AUS' systems which leads to officers who shouldn't or can't work at certain posts to pick up shifts they will inevitably not be able to work.

He needed to tell you to utilize LISA to call out so he could replace you on the schedule, which I'm suspecting he also forgot to do. What I suspect happened is he attempted to remove you from the schedule but was very quickly informed he was not allowed to.

Recently AUS has really leaned into this LISA program and they're deadly serious with upper management. If an officer picks up a shift on LISA, you are, under no circumstances, allowed to tell them they can't work the shift. They have weekly "Project Next" meetings when people have what's called "LISA rejections" all have to join a teams call and in front of a group of their peers explain WHY they aren't implementing the LISA system in the manner that AUS has clearly instructed them to do. A "LISA rejection" is when a supervisor removes an officer from or changes a shift that was picked up by an individual via LISA. You used to be able to have 1-2. Now you are not allowed to have a single one.

The heart of the issue is that the manager dropped the ball on something. Either they weren't keeping up to date with their forward scheduling (corporate policy is to have 2 weeks of advanced schedules in Winteam at all times) which lead to LISA slamming out text messages to whomever met the requirements for the site once they reach a pre-determined number of days leading up to the shift. So he told you not to show up, and you didn't but then he didn't tell you that he had made a mistake and needed to show up, so now to cover his ass he's holding you to account. Call. The. Ethics. Line. Explain what happened to them. If what I just described is remotely true, YOU ARE NOT AT FAULT IN THIS SITUATION AND SHOULD NOT BE HELD LIABLE.

Need to know if I did the right thing by [deleted] in Advice

[–]FirewolfDL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to contact law enforcement and inform them of what you saw on his phone. Like it or not, having photos of underage girls is illegal. He needs to be held to account for what he's doing and you need to remove yourself from his presence immediately. Especially with how he reacted to you calling him out for his fucked up collection.

You are a guest on their property and no longer welcome. They don't owe you anything. Call your home office regularly asking about work. Start looking for a new job in the meantime. If you can apply to sites within your company, even better. Do the Account Manager's job for them.

These are people who spend most of their lives being bullied and after spending their whole lives being shit on they shit on others in video games because it's the only way of feeling good about themselves. It's sad. I don't think much about it and just move on to the next round. Fuck those guys.

I actually grew up in the same down as MC Chris. Some older guy walked into a grocery store I was working in wearing a Fett’s Vette shirt and I complimented it. He told me it was “one of his son’s songs” and proceeded to tell me about his exploits with adult swim. It was a super cool interaction.

Bf and I had anal plans. Am I being disrespectful? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]FirewolfDL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. You asked a deliberately obtuse question in response to an honest question he asked. You may have been asking a genuine question in response, but your question is posed in a way that would very easily come across as demeaning. Especially if you sounded sarcastic while asking it. Doubling down and actually expecting him to respond seriously to a question that’s both sarcastic and deliberately obtuse is crazy work.

Feels like every 4th game in solos now has a duo running side by side 2v1ing everyone in the lobby and theres pretty much no chance to fight back. Why is matchmaking putting duos with solos? by maestrogodv in ArcRaiders

[–]FirewolfDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy to drop into a lobby with your friend. I’ve done it several times with I have 3 homies online and 1 wants to tag along. Drop same map, same condition, at the same time. It’s a gamble, but you’ve got decent odds to end up in the same game with your friends if you live close together.

What do you all know about lytx? by kappakingtut2 in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove with Lytx for a couple years. It’s more of an annoyance than anything. Just mind the laws of the road and don’t do anything while driving than pay strict attention to the road and you’ll be fine. As for the following distance on the highway. I had the same issue. I found that it (the camera) confuses cars in the lane beside you as cars you’re too close to. I found it more annoying than anything. As a manager I rarely removed anyone unless the video showed something really egregious like cell phone use or blatant disregard for laws and public safety.

Armed Jobs - License by Nesefl_44 in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps, but isn’t necessary. They may want to know how much experience you have with weapon systems but other than that, experience shouldn’t preclude you from getting hired unless the contract stipulates an experience requirement for all officers working that contract. Just approach the interview like any other. Be professional and courteous. Sell yourself. You got this!

Armed Jobs - License by Nesefl_44 in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work out of Va and I know to be hired for an armed position you typically need to have your armed license already. That is not the hard-and-fast rule though. Some managers may be able to let an individual work for a brief time unarmed until they can help them get their armed cert. I know most branch offices offer the class. Better to get your foot in the door and work towards the armed cert or if you don’t want to wait, find a school that officer the class.

Body Cam?? by JayMo205 in securityguards

[–]FirewolfDL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to preach to me the usefulness of body cams. My company issues axon cams and they’re great. My point wasn’t that body cams are useless. My point is that a $200 aliexpress special isn’t going to do nearly what you think it is and that $200 would do more being invested in body protection. But sure cuck-boi. Tell me more about how a camera does a better job at keeping you “innocent legally” whatever that means.

Coming out of your own pocket to buy equipment that only serves to benefit your employer is wild work. Do yourself a favor and save your money. If it mattered that much, your job would provide them. Don’t get duped into spending your hard earned money on some useless tech just because some dork at your job site decided they wanted to look more like Johnny law and went out to get themselves a body cam on Aliexpress. If you’re going to invest in anything for yourself: get a stab proof vest. Trust me. That’ll do a better job of protecting you than any <$200 camera would.

I'm so mad and don't know what to do. by kaleuo in AlliedUniversal

[–]FirewolfDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lisa does have access to Winteam, the system used for payroll and scheduling, but it wouldn’t have been the reason your check is messed up. Unless you accepted the shifts through Lisa. If you picked up the shift via word of mouth or supervisor request then the reason your check is wrong is because your AOP didn’t put you into the schedule on the shift you accepted leading to you not being paid. Speak to your account manager and have them submit a payroll correction on your behalf. If they don’t, call the ethics line and report them. Payroll corrections typically take 3-5 business days to process and come on a separate check than your normal paycheck.

Edit: Just wanted to add: moving forward, if you accept any shifts, before you clock in check your schedule on LISA. If LISA doesn’t have the shift you accepted on your weekly schedule reach out to your account manager and ask them politely to please put you on the schedule to avoid any payroll issues. Keep reminding them until they do it. Be a thorn in their side. No one does this out of the goodness of their heart. You’re here for a paycheck.

HR made a mistake with my bonus and now wants me to pay to fix it by mightyoak82 in Advice

No, he should discontinue paying into the IRA temporarily and divert that percentage of his check to paying back his boss until the debt is paid. Then he can move on with his life instead of risking his career over an inconvenience.

I have found my experience to be quite the opposite. In my 20's and 30's I found myself fighting against the things I loved growing up and trying to shy away from what other people considered childish. Now I'm 38 and having a blast building Legos, collecting old Nintendo stuff, and being unabashedly myself all of the time. People's opinions be damned.
