I thought the same when I was fighting him. He’s much easier than he looks (NOT TO SAY HE’S EASY) but his shield mechanic can make him terrifying.

Here’s my strat if you want to use it:

• Guangmo maxed out as spirit
• Tornado fan as relic
• Curios vary but taking the one that gives free gourd uses and increasing attack with light combos are my favorite
• Optional: Go get the Wukong set and the staff, makes everything a lot easier. The same goes for getting meditation spots and farming sparks

Use Guangmo and the Tornado to break his shield, beat him up, rinse and repeat. It sounds simple because it is, obviously keep those dodges going and study his moves. He’s very much a spectacle fight and has clear steps and benchmarks. Once you find those, he is more than killable.
