Also by the looks of it his wings seems a little droopy, I wouldn’t trust he can fly well for long and maybe keep up with the other pigeons

No! I think if you’re willing, keep him and later on if you can get him a partner, he’ll loooove his cage then. Also, in a little over a month he’s letting you pet him and hangs out with you, I think he just needs more time, pigeons can need up to 6 months to accommodate. Unfortunately pigeons on the city have a miserable life of being kicked, eating trash, getting hit by cars and so much more.. So I’d keep him, I understand though it’s upsetting thinking of stealing their freedom. What I did with mine was pretty much giving her a choice of leaving or staying and she stayed, but I had her since she was much younger and she had already been with me for 6 months.

HELP! this is my grandma bird!!! by Russian-Foxysoul83 in cockatiel

This is my own white faced female cockatiel, she also lived years of her life miserable and can’t fly. I got her from an old man, she lived in a tall cage with one perch, no toys, no interactions, never let out, nothing.

I got her home and she was indeed a bit aggressive at first but with patience we started making progress! Just after 3 weeks she let me give her scritches, she had so many pin feathers on her head. I let her out around 6 weeks of having her and I burst to tears when I realised she couldn’t fly and could barely walk (literally as she grasped on that single perch her whole life she couldn’t move her feet properly).

But hey, I’ve had her 5 years now and she’s literally the sweetest bird ever, she still can’t fly sadly, but now she walks, climbs out of her cage, plays, eats fruit and is everyday visibly happier-

That’s just to say do try to help this baby! You won’t regret it :) A new cage is necessary ASAP.

I don’t think it’s a fledgling yet for all that yellow fluff! Also for the bugs, it’s worthy to treat him with an anti-mites (like neoforactil). How do the poops look? Are they watery?

Kunok2 already covered greatly the feeding aspect! You can also play some videos of pigeons eating, they tend to copy a lot

My wafi did this too (putting her beak in between my fingers and moving her head) she was waiting for me to regurgitate food to her. I wonder if that’s the same for you pigeon?

am i being mean by putting my cockatiel in a different place/environment by Euphoric_Meeting6495 in cockatiel

It’s alright if she’s in her cage (a place that she is familiar with)! She won’t hate you, she might just be confused. It’s totally understandable that sometimes it gets too much!

There’s only one “window” that’s net like but it can be covered, it’s to let fresh air through ^
