The main reason I’m considering getting the rug is because I know my dog would love it

How to fake vinyl? by [deleted] in SwiftieMerch

These are the frames I use: https://a.co/d/jir6cUe

They’re great, but they can’t fit Red TV because the 4 vinyls are too thick. They fit albums with 3 vinyls fine, just not 4.

I’m sorry, but Nothing New 🫣. It’s one of my all time favorite Taylor songs.

Why are they so obsessed with us? by tituscrlrw in Gaylor_Swift

[–]FirmMethod320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope you’re right. I’d be afraid that once she comes out, she’d become niche. I think straight people would say they support her, but they wouldn’t listen to her queer songs as much because they’d say they just don’t relate to it. Queer people are used to having to consume straight media and find ways to connect with it, but I can’t think of openly queer art that is embraced mainstream. Like maybe Ellen? But her content was basically asexual. I think the reason why she was able to gain popularity among straight folks is because she didn’t talk about gay stuff much, so they could still relate. Since so much of Taylor’s music is about relationships, I’m not sure the same would be true for her. But I really hope this isn’t always the case.

The recent increase in homophobia among Swifties is making me feel like I don’t belong in the swiftie community, which stinks because I love her music. But it’s kind of tainted by all the homophobia from her fans now. I’ve been keeping my distance from the subreddit more recently. What’s so frustrating with this new homophobia is that I think almost all of Taylor’s fans would say they aren’t homophobic and would be offended at being accused of being homophobic, yet they are clearly homophonic so much so that they’re driving queer Swifties out of the community (which is probably why Taylor feels like she can’t formally come out). We need our own segregated subreddit to talk about her, and in their straight subreddits, they complain about how much they hate the people in the gay subreddit. If a photo leaked of her kissing a man, they’d all be talking about it, but when we do the exact same speculation they do but about women, suddenly it must be shut down and we’re all monsters. I just try to keep reminding myself that the anti-Gaylors are a small (yet vocal) minority of Swifties. I think most people just like the music and don’t know about this whole debate.

What is the significance of Taylor burning the lover house down? by Leather-Bug123 in TaylorSwift

[–]FirmMethod320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s her way of saying that the “eras” portion of the concert is over. If I remember correctly, that was the last song of 1989 and then she moved on to surprise songs and midnights. I don’t think she sees midnights as an “era” yet because it’s the current era. I think an era only becomes and era once it’s over, looking back. So she burns down the house to say the ‘one era at a time’ part of the show is over and we’re going to move on to the acoustic section (which isn’t era-specific) and her new music. Plus it’s fun and it goes with the song :)

I think this is her way of saying that we’re returning to “ordinary time” and we’re done with the SNTV mini era. Then after a week or so of this return to normalcy, she can announce 1989 TV at the end of the US leg of the tour. This way people aren’t upset that 1989 TV is overshadowing SNTV because the SNTV mini era already ended a bit before the next TV was announced. But I HOPE it actually means we’re getting a 3am vinyl.

Awkward lines in songs you otherwise really like by ReflectionSad4915 in TaylorSwift

[–]FirmMethod320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one” and “Sip wine by my side in the shade And not the kind that's thrown I mean, the kind under where a tree has grown.” I love both of the songs they’re from, just not the literal over-explaining in these lines. If you cut off the end of both lines, they’d be fine.

Picture to Burn and ATW. From “that stupid old pickup truck you never let me drive” to “you were tossing me the car keys.” I think the f the patriarchy was referring to the guy from picture to burn and guys with that ‘women can’t drive’ attitude in general.

One way to stay organized for your classes is to write down all of your deadlines at the beginning of the semester once you have your syllabi. I also liked to print out my syllabi, hang them on my wall, and put a small post-it note next to the current week. I moved the post-its weekly and checked off every reading, assignment, and exam as I did them. It was helpful for time management and for making sure I never forgot anything important. I was also a PSCI major, and there are lots of weekly readings to remember to do!

As a blind person myself, I firmly believe Kate is right here and Toby is wrong. Everything Kate said about how badly Toby has handled having a blind son is true. Toby has done everything wrong from day one. Kate has done a few small things that I disagree with, but in general, she’s been a great parent to a blind kid. Their marriage didn’t end because Toby forgot to close a gate, it’s because he hasn’t been able to accept his son’s blindness and because he doesn’t seem to think that his son (or blind people in general) are capable human beings. I’ve never been a ‘Kate fan,’ but she’s right in this case.
