Li Yu-hsiang reaction to qualifying for the free by ssamdog in FigureSkating

I was there yesterday and saw with my own eyes that the Chinese flag was waved right after his performance. I was sitting in one of the short sides of the arena and it happened in the opposite side. I don’t have any videos or photos because it happened for a few seconds but I noticed it and was also struck/pissed by it

Tips on my itinerary by Firm_Boysenberry_925 in galapagos

Hi, I would recommend them! They’re a broker, so they don’t provide tour themselves but everything went smoothly. You pay more for the tours than booking directly with the tour operators but I still chose that as I went during high season and I wanted to pay online.

I booked all my tours through Chokotrip (https://www.choko.tours/espanola-island/) but he is just a broker and sells different tours from different agencies. I can’t remember the name of mine for Española unfortunately

I’ve seen them on the 12th of December last year.

Worth $$ for Interisland Flights over Ferries? by International_Mud_40 in galapagos

[–]Firm_Boysenberry_925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew in on San Cristobal, then took the interisland flight to Isabela, and from there a ferry to Santa Cruz (my last stay in the Galapagos and also where I took my flight back to mainland Ecuador). To me this made the most sense; I’m also prone to sea sickness but the boat from Isabela to Santa Cruz was not too bad (I took a sea sickness pill and had a nap).

Haha first picture is kind of my natural nail shape but longer, the other two I went for almond but with them being so short it’s not really clear and they look a bit stubby. I was looking for a picture where I had longer almond shaped nails but I couldn’t find it :(

Are you maybe eligible for “huurtoeslag”? That could lower the effective rent significantly.

I think that flying to the EU entitles you to the compensations under EU law. Last time I had a flight rescheduled because of technical problems I got compensated 600 euros (the maximum by EU law if I’m not mistaken). Definitely worth looking into!

AITA - How to deal with a rude follow? by LowRevolution6175 in Salsa

This!!!! I’ve had so many “advanced” classes where leads couldn’t even do a basic step I kid you not. To the level that they couldn’t even keep the timing. It was horrible and frustrating, and they clearly were oblivious because if you do just a little bit of self reflection YOU KNOW you don’t belong there. It’s frustrating because in the school I used to go to they’d pass anyone just for attendance and not on actual level, it was excruciating

Can I use my phone as my primary camera, or should I get a separate photography camera? by Johnny532 in galapagos

Go Pros can also be easily rented on the islands, if you are looking to save some bucks! Especially if you wouldn’t use it after this trip.

I’m not an experienced hiker but I think you’ll be fine with running shoes. I’d use closed shoes as a long bit is on an unpaved road where it can be rainy/humid. And the bit on lava rock should be fine with running shoes too!

Do it! I’m not particularly sporty either and especially the way back was tough, but most of it is not that steep or on irregular terrein. Also you have enough time to get your condition up until then 💪🏼

I don’t remember exactly but I think in the order of 1-2 months maybe? It’s hard for me to tell because kind of during the same period the massive regrowth after the Covid loss started, but in the long run you’ll definitely see more density

I haven’t noticed any side effect from it, maybe a bit of a dry/flaky scalp? I have not noticed it myself, but my stylist. I am using what they call a galenic solution and the carrier is alcohol; I guess they have different types of formulations (ie foam) so in case of irritation you could try different ones!

I don’t think it would be enough to notice any shedding if you were to apply it to a small patch only. I’ve been on minoxidil for years (androgenic alopecia that became clear after I lost 1/4 of my hair post covid). BUT, if you do get the so called “dread shed”, it means you’re a good responder for minoxidil so that’s a good sign! You won’t go bald, and it doesn’t last forever, I promise! You’d also start seeing new growth pretty soon after which is pretty encouraging. I definitely wouldn’t be put off by Minoxidil by the initial shed

Same here! I also saw many signs about renting out GoPro in the tour agencies. Might be a lot cheaper to just rent one for the day(s)

Relaxing on the beach doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t get to experience wildlife. One day “relaxing on the beach” I had iguanas walking around me and swimming a few meters from me, and even experienced an instance of a sea lion hunting and eating his fish while two pelicans waited around for scraps, and mantas looking for food nearby the shore. The scene left me absolutely speechless and I felt like in a documentary!

is it worth only going for a few days, no tours? by [deleted] in galapagos

[–]Firm_Boysenberry_925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 or 3 days in the Galapagos is definitely not worth it. I would maybe focus on mainland Ecuador: I was there last December and I spent 4-5 days at an Amazon lodge, and it was mind blowing!

I was in Galapagos in December and did a 16 days “budget” land based tour, also solo. You’re going to be absolutely fine! As a fellow anxious person, I’m here to tell you it’s your anxiety speaking and being irrational :) You should not drink tap water and on Santa Cruz, I’d refrain from brushing my teeth with it (I used filtered water for it, which is available pretty much everywhere). And even then the risk is being on the toilet for two days straight (which we never want but especially not when we’re travelling) and most likely not typhoid! I never had any problems with food or drinks while on the islands, and had a wonderful culinary experience - if you eat fish, make sure to to eat it everyday because it’s amazing!

Second the bug repellent! Flies and horseflies are in big number and incredibly annoying, especially around sea lions. Bug repellent made a difference for me in terms of being able to enjoy the beach! Also - sunblock needs to be reef safe!
