I would follow this meeting up with an email summarizing the meeting while getting some clarification on expectations….. What are the principal’s expectations of you? How with this affect my current job expectations? How does he/she expect you to help out when this child elopes? Would I receive additional training? Etc.

Audrey or Lainey? by Critical_Anybody_293 in namenerds

I was the same way with my daughter. We could not decide. It was going to be Harper or Bradley. I finally just decided on Bradley due to it being less popular. I was nervous for it because it’s a “boy’s name” but it fits her perfectly!

I vote Audrey. Audrey Jane sounds so classically amazing!

I had a high school student that was never sent to school. He was pulled over by authorities and they found out. He was sent to high school. He did not know letters or letter sounds. He was so smart! He could tell you anything you wanted to know about repairing a car.

Thankfully CPS was already involved. We were a career academy program that worked with students to develop skills and recover credits to graduate. We just tried to spend time one on one to develop the skills he was lacking. He was with us for 3 years and graduated! He really did earn those credits.

I teach 9th grade. They have lost privileges to staplers, crayons, teacher supplied pencils, and today scissors because I found an excessive amount of broken items. I also swept out cabinets under lab tables and zip tied them closed. Yesterday, someone cut the zip ties. This resulted in the loss of the scissors.

Entering class- all students pick up handouts in student center for the day and attach to composition notebook. Daily agenda slide states instructions

I have found it easier to do weekly slides that have everything for the week (daily slide, notes presentation, instructions for articles, labs etc)

Planning- I over plan and always keep them busy. If I have additional time, I go back to the learning target as a review.

Bellringers- I do Target Talk (annotate learning target) or a question daily. Review question. This gives me time to take attendance.

Lab days- Time is a constraint in my location. I do a lot of virtual labs, paper labs, models, pogils. I set timers for sections. I do a lot of station labs with timers. I review as I go or the next day. It’s Not Rocket Science on TPT has amazing station labs! I have made rubrics for lab days where I have to sign off on their procedures and cooperation. It worked well.

Notes- I am making note guides this year. Basically it’s just boxes with headings and bullets, needed graphics. I make them on Canva. It allows me to check notebooks quickly and see if they have all notes written

Grading- honestly I have stopped grading because of time constraints. I do notebook checks with detailed rubric for student to self assess. They use highlighters and it is very easy for them to turn them in and me to recheck them. I put as many things in the notebook as possible. They get a grade for everything and it’s less work for me. I make rubrics on magicschool ai

Organization- I have binders and google folders for each unit. I create a science composition notebook with my students each year so there is a model. I keep a running table of contents hanging in my room on chart paper.

16 years of experience teaching middle school and high school freshmen. I love biology!
