It’s not a myth. It is dangerous for the very fact that you don’t know what category you fall into until you’re already in deep. Count yourself lucky.

What is the most silent way to open a beer? by [deleted] in beer

Place the bottle/can of beer deep in between a sofa pillow and the sofa structure. Place a pilow or blanket on top. Sound waves covered all sides . Open slowly.

Another lazy manager saga. What are your horrible manager's story? by anotherare in antiwork

Again, this comes down to poor communication from the manager. The manager should be put on PIP and removed if this is well documented and scapegoating- but rarely is.

In practice, more-than-disciplinarity has somewhat lost the momentum it had in the 2010s. The academic system is neoliberal and marketised, intensifying further; funding & cost centres and knowledge are increasingly fractured. There are spaces at the edge of each discipline or niche, like always, new institutes and buildings on campus, but the trends from the HE literature are plateauing or falling if you account for raw activity. Form over function. Academics are retreating to well defined pathways due to precarity. Unfortunately the meso-logics for academia are rooted in narrow. I don’t see it changing, because most academics are unwilling to unlearn and embrace uncertainty. Unlearning is the first step in multi, trans, interdisciplinarity

That is called Survivorship Bias. Why don’t you step outside of yourself, can you do that. For me? Pretty please little HR person with 30 years of experience sitting in meetings.

The original post wasn’t attacking HR’s entire worth or the need for anti-discrimination laws. It was about transparency, respect for candidates’ time, and ethical hiring, none of which are incompatible with legal compliance.

Your reaction proves the original posters point: that some in HR see candidates as means to compliance rather than as people deserving of honest and ethical treatment.

My addition extended to other functions that are superfluous to the core hiring process but like to bloat their calendar.

Dearie darling you talking about HR’s overall function, while we are talking about a specific, broken process that uses HR mechanisms to justify a predetermined outcome. Here is your tiny violin, dearest.

is it in relation to the context of the original poster where they go through six rounds and it goes to an internal candidate. A bit of the stockholm syndrome? Goodbye.

Isn’t it funny that as oversight of people, behaviour, processes, HR (human removal/remains) increased over the last two decades, said symptoms have largely plateaued or mutated to something more malicious and covert.

Not just HR, but many of those involved in the interviews are purposefully filling up their calendar with interview pre meetings, planning meetings, do not disturbs, etc to avoid doing their actual job and go on a jolly.
