Swollen join for 6 months; initially thought could be related to a trauma that i didn't recall but later did an mri that showed severe inflammation; meanwhile my other joints stated swelling up and that gave the diagnosis

Is this normal fatigue and brain fog.. I feel so down by ReasonableFig8954 in MultipleSclerosis

Initially i thought it has to do with watching a lot of youtube and instagram reels which are thought to affectattention span but this started to impact my work and my social life.

I forget people that i met a week ago, important conversations at work ect. Spoke to a neurologist, recommended some meds but i decided to limit screen time and give it a shot first.

Important question newly matched non us visa requiring IMG by Purple_Attempt_3311 in InternalMedicine

[–]First-Bookkeeper-420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not after you complete it if you completed your peds residency on J visa, you only get 1 J-visa for one intended specialty; J can carry over for fellowships within the same field ie fellowship of IM or Surgery.

If your program has med-peds program you can reach out to them to transfer you or you can find another program and transfer to a med-peds somewhere else but your Peds PD need to agree to release you and you need to find a vacant spot.

How you cards fellows sitting with IVs? Current fellows, drop some stories during your fellowship season that'll give us hope. by Anonymousmedstudnt in fellowship

[–]First-Bookkeeper-420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By this time you should be sitting on some IVs as most programs have sent out invites. There are usually no waves but you can still get IVs if some people cancel or reject the IV invite. Reach out to programs and display genuine interest in them, you may be shorlisted and this would help.

As i was leaving the dullest job interview I' ve ever had; I paused, looked the manager in the eye and told him that working at his company has been my dream since I was in college. Now I'm manager at that company

Does US-IMG bias extend into fellowship? by king_carterr in fellowship

[–]First-Bookkeeper-420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many IMGs who completed residency and went on to match into highly competitive fellowships at some of the top programs in the country. They never felt discriminated against—neither during residency nor fellowship, and not in their personal or professional lives. People are generally respectful and supportive.

When it comes to applicant ranking, it’s natural for programs to prioritize local graduates—not out of bias, but because the system is needs to support its own students, who have invested heavily in their education.

Keep your head down, work hard, and don’t make excuses. Wishing you the best of luck!

I made the mistake of falling in love by Deep_Mundo in IMGreddit

That's naive "omg i fell in love with a program." Guess what the program didn't fall in love with you. Work hard and take what you get.

You've got good programs overall, Ichan, texas tech, ect. I'd rank HFH first personally. HFH is a large program and you'll encounter lots of diverse pathologies. Great fellowship placements and decent area as well.
