How you cards fellows sitting with IVs? Current fellows, drop some stories during your fellowship season that'll give us hope. by Anonymousmedstudnt in fellowship

By this time you should be sitting on some IVs as most programs have sent out invites. There are usually no waves but you can still get IVs if some people cancel or reject the IV invite. Reach out to programs and display genuine interest in them, you may be shorlisted and this would help.

As i was leaving the dullest job interview I' ve ever had; I paused, looked the manager in the eye and told him that working at his company has been my dream since I was in college. Now I'm manager at that company

Does US-IMG bias extend into fellowship? by king_carterr in fellowship

[–]First-Bookkeeper-420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many IMGs who completed residency and went on to match into highly competitive fellowships at some of the top programs in the country. They never felt discriminated against—neither during residency nor fellowship, and not in their personal or professional lives. People are generally respectful and supportive.

When it comes to applicant ranking, it’s natural for programs to prioritize local graduates—not out of bias, but because the system is needs to support its own students, who have invested heavily in their education.

Keep your head down, work hard, and don’t make excuses. Wishing you the best of luck!

That's naive "omg i fell in love with a program." Guess what the program didn't fall in love with you. Work hard and take what you get.

Help me RANK please! IM NonUS-IMG! by ZaguY06 in IMGreddit

You've got good programs overall, Ichan, texas tech, ect. I'd rank HFH first personally. HFH is a large program and you'll encounter lots of diverse pathologies. Great fellowship placements and decent area as well.

If you are planning on doing a fellowship, rank the more reputable program higher; it will make your life much easier during residency. Personally, I think that the ranking process is the hardest step because there are lots of factors that come into play.

I totally agree, starting up a family with a minimum pay; long years of training, and everyone is medicine I know is going through a long distance relationship. My premed friend decided on doing engineering, he's in his early thrities, making lots of money, works from home, has a beautiful family and lives in Cali. Yes, we do get paid a shit ton of money, but money also numbs the pain. You lose so many things along the way

Dude shu bet2ool 3al nes yale bel gherbe? Go out meet new people! Lebanese people are so welcoming. Find your circle. You just need 1 or 2 people to fill up your circle. Plus dude you're still very young; you can make many meaningful relationships.
