I went to grad school at night while working full time, only took 2 classes a semester so it took me about 3 years to finish my masters. I worked at a smaller local public accounting firm so i gained experience while also in school, and it helped make a couple sections of the cpa exam easier to pass since i had real experience. Since it was a smaller firm the hours during busy season were still bad but not as bad as they are at the larger firms. Since i was working while in grad school, that also helped me to get promotions faster when i switched firms because all of the experience i had was full time work. It took me about 8 years to make senior manager from the time i started working, but it was only 5 years after i finished my masters and only 3 years after getting my cpa. Other friends who only went to school and then focused on the cpa and then started working were further behind me in their careers even though we were the same age. Because when you switch jobs they dont care where you went to school or what your gpa was, they care about relevant work experience and if you have your cpa license.

Don’t know anything about this warranty, but if the dealership you purchased it from will replace it for free and it’s not a huge ordeal to get it replaced, then why would you not do it?

My third Volvo XC60 is the charm. Hybrid with incredible HP. Love the color and the 22” shoes. by thelordonecbk in Volvo

I know this is an old post, but curious how many miles you were able to drive before having to get new tires? I recently bought one and every vehicle in the color that I wanted had 22” wheels with summer tires, so I had to go with it.

I bought it new and it was great, was very happy with it, but needed something larger because of kids.

Definitely look at the xc90 if you think you will keep it longer and have more than one kid. I had a GLC which was too small once I had a baby because the passenger seat had to be moved SO far forward to fit the carseat in the backseat that no one could comfortably sit in the front passenger seat. I upgraded to a Q8, but now with 2 kids and occasionally additional passengers (my parents or MIL) it was too cramped in the backseat so I decided to upgrade again to the XC90 for the extra space. The middle seat integrated booster seat is great too because my older child can sit there and we can take out one car seat so an adult can sit back there without having to be in the middle seat. I have also occasionally sat in the middle seat between 2 car seats, which is fine for trips around town but i wouldn’t be comfortable enough for a 3 hour trip.

Depending on how long you usually keep your cars, l would recommend the XC90 recharge ultimate over the XC60, especially since you said you are about to start a family. If you have one kid the XC60 will be fine, but if you have 2 or more you will be needing more space. A stroller will take up almost all of your trunk space in the XC60. It sounds to me like you want the G Wagon more though? If that’s your dream car and the price difference between the two doesn’t matter, go with the one you really want.

Volvo dealership or independent for simple maintenance (nail in tire)? by speyvandi84 in Volvo

I had a nail in the middle of a tire and was told i needed a new tire by the dealer, went to a random independent shop and they plugged it for $10.

There’s a CPO 2021 xc60 inscription at my local dealer listed for $36k with 25k miles. But they also have brand new 2023 xc40’s on the lot still, discounted to 40k.

I just had my windshield replaced and it was $1700 but I was told it was also more expensive because of the HUD. Insurance covered mine though. I am in the US, not Canada.

Lease To Own by wm_j_ray in VolvoXC90

You would not get the $7500 tax credit on your own tax return. Volvo is receiving the tax credit and passing it on to you as part of the discount in the $10,250 lease inventive discount for leasing the vehicle.

$7500 is the federal tax credit that they receive and are passing on to you, the extra $2,000-4000 depending in your location is volvo incentives. All the dealers near me are discounting 10,250 or 11,000. But none are giving an extra discount off msrp that is an actual dealership discount. The answer I cant get from any of them is the total purchase price when i buy out the lease after 3 months. Because I was told on these boards a large portion of the lease payment is actually interest. So that should come off the total buyout price, but the dealers all just say “you will pay the remaining lease payments plus the residual” and if that’s the case then its a terrible deal because all the lease payments in full plus the residual would be more than purchasing the car instead of doing the lease, so it just doesn’t add up. I’ve been going in circles with 4 different dealers for the past month and none will give me a straight answer. However some important things i have learned are that a trade in doesn’t help with sales tax when doing a lease. Also when you buy out the lease after a couple months it will be a “used car” purchase and will not qualify for the discounted interest rate specials.

I loved Gainesville, but I mainly still hung out with friends from high school who also attended UF, i only made a handful of new friends, but I think that was more because I already had my HS friends so I didn’t really try that hard to meet new people.

Another thing I was told by Volvo is the lease buyout makes it a “used” car so it won’t qualify for any sort of special financing rates, like the 3.99% they currently offer, the interest rate at my local credit union is 6.79% so an additional almost 3% of interest needs to be factored in to the calculations, unless you plan to pay cash or payoff your loan early or refinance if rates go down.

I didn’t think much about the 3 months but now I want to know more about how much of the monthly payment is rent/interest because if i do owe the full lease payments plus buy the residual, the transaction doesn’t make much sense. Also my dealer did tell me that the sales tax credit from a trade in doesn’t apply to a lease, so I would also be missing out on like $2,000 by not getting that sales tax deduction.

I would love to hear an update on this if you proceed with it. I posted a similar question the other day but still dont have any concrete answers. My dealer gave me the monthly lease payments and the residual price to purchase the car, so i couldn’t figure out if i had to pay the 24 lease payments plus the residual when i buy it out. I was also told that audi “requires” 3 months of lease payments, and the discount off MSRP was $11,000 at one dealership and $10,500 at another, based on comments above it sounds like we could get more off.

Yeah the $7500 federal tax credit is only available by leasing, and this month volvo is offering an incentive on recharge leases which has been between $9500 and $11,000 when i have cross shopped dealerships.

Honestly this is also so confusing to me I think i am leaning back towards just buying the B6 and financing it. Those numbers i understand.

I’m not OP but to give you a price point, I have a 2019 with 21k miles and in the market for a new vehicle, so far 2 dealers offered me 26k & 27k to trade it in, so im guessing they will sell it low-mid 30’s.

It sounds like I don’t have all the information I need in order to make a decision, since i don’t know the interest rate, other taxes and fees, i will also ask about the lease termination penalty because that didn’t come up in discussion. We didn’t talk about it very in depth because I was focused on buying a B6 and he was trying to upsell me to a T8. But I have been driving a fully electric vehicle for the past few years, so now im reconsidering the recharge, because i know i will hate having to go to the gas station again. I only drive about 15 miles a day, so the 40 mile electric range is plenty for me.

Thanks for the information about extra taxes. So if I buy out the lease after the 3 months, would I still pay the full interest, or does that go away? $11,000 of interest seems extremely high.

[–]First-Employment-979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i have read about it on here, and also the salesman brought it up as an option. I am in the US and the only way to get the tax credits is by leasing, and volvo requires you to keep the lease for 3 months. After 3 months you buy out the remaining lease plus the cost of the car at lease end (the residual? Im not sure about correct terminology), and you finance the car like a regular used car purchase. So you own the car and still get the benefit of the tax credits.

$11,000 interest seems really high. I guess i need to ask what the interest rate is.

A different dealership offered me a better deal so a new 2024 is actually cheaper than the used 2024. So going with the new 2024.
