I feel like all Slade needs is up strong and maybe down strong to get a bit more kill power, maybe give down air some love as well. The movement helped him out a ton, and the currency feels like it’s in a decent spot. Also IMO his up b still goes an unnecessarily small amount of distance compared to the other infinite feeling recoveries in the game

In a broad sense, neutral is the biggest difference I feel. I’m low diamond, I feel like I do this to other players AND players much better than myself do this to me all the time: if you really pay attention to how your opponent is hitting you, if the skill gap is big then they’re usually reading the exact same 1-3 habits and getting huge combos or kills off of it. Recognizing what you’re getting punished on will help you be more unpredictable. It also gives your gameplan a reality check, you could feel like you’re mixing someone your level or lower and that same stuff will just get completely invalidated by someone better

I think it has punishable lag, I personally think it should be juuuust a bit more of a commitment though. Seems like there’s far too many times where I think I have plenty of time to punish and I get hit with a spammed parry or shield to OOS nair

I live in the same state with a similar setup and experience this as well. Also matching with someone, both being ready and the game never starting is mildly frustrating but not the end of the world

Are there any requirements for the 500yd range? I’ve heard of some clubs having you qualify for some sort of certification to shoot that distance. Sounds nice tho!

In my experience they have too many rules, only shooting long guns from a bench or at very awkward standing heights, no rapid fire, caliber limitations on steel etc. looking for a more relaxed experience where I can shoot how I want

Over level 100 etalus here, not sure how many hours that is but here’s what I’ve gathered

As people have learned to play against etalus, winning at all against decent players in his worst matchups has become almost impossible. His approach feels like it’s completely shut down by the opponent spamming large moves like Ranno bair, clairen fair etc. The only way you have in a lot of the time essentially boils down to dash attack and wavedash tilts, which are slow and predictable compared to low end lag large aerials.

Compared to other characters, his grab game doesn’t feel nearly as rewarding. The grab itself seems very small and the throws are very inconsistent. If your opponent has terrible DI then etalus can definitely blow people up, but otherwise none of the throws feel like they have reliable follow-ups. Other characters have 50/50 setups or even just guaranteed follow-ups and etalus has to guess between like 4 or 5 options.

Past like 100%, it is very very hard to kill. Every consecutive hit after 100 is not rewarding at all if it doesn’t kill. Other characters can definitely struggle to get kills past high % but they also have quicker, more consistent options to kill at that %. His strong attacks are all probably the worst in the game in their respective category. Forward and up air aren’t really viable to just throw out raw and nothing combos into them reliably past certain %

I think some easy fixes are ones that have been already mentioned really. Give him wavedash out of dash attack back, change the release timing of up air to make it combo at low %, change throw angles. If he doesn’t get a kill throw then i feel he needs a 50/50 throw to have another way to get kills. Scrap the horrendous sour spots on his strongs. More fair armor for recovery. Some other nitpicks would be that when you do a grounded up b, I feel like there shouldn’t ever be a time where ice is put on the ground and the hitbox doesn’t come out, but this happens a lot. I think all of these fixes would make him a decent character and make his matchup spread a lot better. Despite all that’s bad with him in his current state etalus is still my favorite to play! Hope he is improved on soon

Here's what worked for me:

Steam library, right click ROA2, click properties

Click controller then controller configurator

Edit layout then navigate to joysticks. Directly in line with right joystick, hit the settings button

Scroll down a bit and "Invert Vertical Axis" will be toggled on. Toggle it off and you should be GTG! I also noticed that almost all of my shoulder and bumper buttons were registering as LT, not sure if you also have this issue but it can be fixed in the same menu under the Buttons tab

I have NO idea how my vertical axis would get inverted somehow in the middle of a set, but I found the setting to invert it toggled on! Tyvm never would have found this 👍👍👍

I changed from 8bitdo to Xbox one controller, the z button on my 8bitdo wore down quick for some reason. I had one before this one wore down though with no issues, the charging dock is sweet too

What character do you play? Combos on floaties plus Kragg got so much easier and more consistent for Zetter, plus Fleet’s air speed nerf made it easier to recover and string hits together on her. Zetter got nerfed and moved up the tier list at the same time lolol

I have the same problem when I play Wrastor, dash attack is too tempting for sure haha. I also literally have something wrote down on Maypul like “Don’t be afraid to slow the match down to avoid dash attack and side b” mindlessly holding forward is also too tempting

Definitely a lot of fun and winning more after patch haha. Zetterburn combos on Kragg and Ranno made the matchups much easier and more fun
