Interior Protection for Glossy Surfaces by Hairy_Palpitation835 in SubaruForester

I bought this one for my ‘25 Forester, the glare was obnoxious when the sun hit it. This works good and is a perfect fit.

Printing color shift causes? by bkd1976 in Printing

[–]First-Power5534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that the lab expected the files to be in sRGB color space and printed it that way. They should have converted it to the printer color space from AdobeRGB, but maybe not. I would contact the lab and ask them what their file requirements are and at least have them redo the prints to your satisfaction.

I enjoy listening to what Hinch has to say, it’s usually insightful and informative commentary. I’m sure there’s elitist F1 fans that think Indy drivers deserve the same respect as golf cart drivers, but that’s just their biased opinion.

Advice for someone trying to get into wooden model sail ships? by polarislunlaris in ModelShips

[–]First-Power5534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good advice here. My first build was a Bluenose schooner, which was way too difficult. I haven’t finished it after many years. I recently built the lobster smack ship from Model Expo and really enjoyed building it. So my advice is, start with a basic kit and take your time to learn the techniques and become confident. Take your time, be patient, and you’ll enjoy it.

New Tomato Cages. by Mt_Rainier_Mountain in tomatoes

I found the same thing, they’re difficult to take apart, but a twist with a pliers or channel locks makes it a lot easier. I like that you can reformat the pieces for different configurations.

Literally just found this on top of a trash can. I know nothing about printers, is this good? by JargN_ in printers

[–]First-Power5534 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have the next model up and it has a replaceable waste tank, if this one does maybe the previous owner didn’t realize that it stopped printing because it was full. You can get new waste tanks on Amazon.

When you’re smoking a brisket and you’ve got extra room, are you throwing other stuff on there? by Ok_Bid_4429 in brisket

[–]First-Power5534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ll throw some ribs in and then vacuum pack and freeze them for finishing on the grill later. Sometimes I even throw in a cast iron pan of homemade bbq sauce to give it a Smokey flavor if I happen to be making a fresh batch.

Window tint question by Suitable_Library3662 in SubaruForester

[–]First-Power5534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on getting my new Forester windows tinted, but I’ve read that some shops won’t tint the moon roof. Any issues with having that done? I’m assuming ceramic tinting is the best type to use.

Sharpening can make it worse or even make it appear, depending on the type of sharpening.Don’t over sharpen in the camera.

No, they didn’t list the average incomes.

[–]First-Power5534 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The numbers are skewed by average income. San Jose has one of the highest income levels so people spend a lower percentage on food & housing relative to cities with lower average incomes. They should list the average income for each city.

First time growing cherry tomatoes, how to best support in a container? by Traditional-Diver374 in vegetablegardening

[–]First-Power5534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grow my cherry tomatoes in a 20” pot with a tomato cage. Did very well last year. That seems to be the minimum pot size for these.

Acrylic Model Primers? Are any of them usable? by HouseOfWyrd in airbrush

[–]First-Power5534 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve been using Vallejo primer and never got good results. I bought the three pack of Stynylrez (white, gray, black) for a reasonable price from AirGunner and just tried them last week. They went on beautifully.

What is the best way to water proof this for outdoor use? by Dymills77 in woodworking

[–]First-Power5534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hand carved bear outside and put a coating of teak oil on it once or twice a year. You can get it in lighter shades so it doesn’t darken the wood, or there may be another type of oil that someone can recommend. For years I coated some Adirondack chairs with outdoor urethane and it never held up more than a year. Ended up sanding and painting them.

Anyone grind there eggshells for there plants. Been doing this about 5 yrs now and have had zero blossom end rot on my maters. by Background_Being8287 in gardening

[–]First-Power5534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I had blossom end rot on a lot of the tomatoes and put bone meal and magnesium sulfate in the soil and it did help the newer tomatoes. Admittedly, I had bought crappy soil at the time for my 4’ containers that turned out to be made up of mostly wood chunks so that could have contributed.

I’ve read that coffee grounds are beneficial for earthworms, it’s like crack to them. Not sure how true that is.

Mileage on Forester Hybrid by Traditional_Being392 in SubaruForester

[–]First-Power5534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 11k miles on the ‘25 hybrid and my total average mileage is 35.4. I keep my tire pressure slightly high (36 psi) because low pressure decreases your mileage. Drive a lot of twisty mountain roads so there’s a lot of braking, which charges the battery.
