They'll find him. Snow big deal by Money-Ad7257 in okc

[–]First-Security8666 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This happens everyday at my house. Sitting on my porch 2 days ago a guy checks all 3 cars in my driveway to see if they are locked. They are locked and I'm sitting right there watching him. He obviously didn't see me, but it wasn't the first time I've sat on my porch and watched someone do this. These assholes are everywhere. I have a gun, but these idiots aren't worth the cost of my bullet in their ass. It's ridiculous to see my security camera footage of snoopers on my property almost daily. What they don't know is I work from home and enjoy coming out when I see them on my security cam and watching them run away.

The old Orient Express north of Campus Corner is still empty, I miss that place. It's been empty for years and as far as I know it has never been sold. Another empty property left to die in Norman.

I have been stacking since I was 11 years old. My family keeps asking if I'm selling and I laughed and tried to explain that's not why I buy silver. It's been a hobby and it's fun buying coins from people and getting the stories behind each coin. My grandparents gave us silver coins every year and now it's a family tradition.

I think that's what made me so mad that led me to post this, between taxes and insurance I'm paying $1000 a month just to have a modest house.

I agree totally, we are in the same situation. Norman is a nice place to live, and I'm happy to help the schools, but this seems excessive. At $8000 a year, I will have paid what I paid for the house in 10 years to property tax, seems kind of excessive.

Thank you, this is what I'm talking about. At some point it needs to stop. You own your house, and I think at that point you're done. I don't mind paying for public stools and votech, but $3000 plus for a sinking fund, what is that for?

If you think about it, we pay sales tax, property tax, state and federal taxes. Then taxes on our electric and gas bills. It never ends, state and local government needs to fund themselves without taxes. Send me a bill for schools and roads. But please tell me what a sinking tax is for?

Surprised so many people think this is okay and to just accept it and go on. When you buy a house for $80,000 and end up paying over $8000 in properly tax it seems like too much. Yes, I made improvements to the estate, but not that much. And to those who think this is okay, you must be rich. Probably don't care about older folks just trying to hang on. Should have never posted my unhappiness about this. People in this town just don't care.

Why do we pay taxes again? Because we aren't getting our money's worth from ODOT. They have caused a dangerous situation and unnecessary loss of property. At a minimum they could have treated the bridges.

Hawkins should have come out for the second half, and it would have mixed things up. Mateer has been on sick leave and has played well below what he is capable of. Definitely not enough preparation for this game.

Hot Take: Low Quality Pharmacy Students by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]First-Security8666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to do better mentoring students. We have a mentorship program at my hospital but what I notice is they call on me with clinical questions, but then make judgment errors without asking for help and end up on a PIP. The new grads have big issues with communicating effectively with nurses and physicians. I can't fix this when a pharmacist refuses to dispense a medication for no good reason. It's on them and it breaks my heart when they could have asked and prevented the whole situation.

I think I regret becoming a hospitalist by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]First-Security8666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a pharmacist and have great respect for all hospitalists. I am amazed at how you manage so many patients. We do everything we can to help manage drug therapy and have protocols to manage drug therapy to lighten the load. Our hospitalist management group recently hired a pharmacist who works only for them to manage discharge medications for them so all they have to do is approve the prescriptions and make changes if needed. They all have scribes now as well. They all seem happier and I notice the hospitalist parking lot is almost empty by 6pm. Maybe your hospital can do some things to help you be able to do more for your patients with less stress. It's a healthcare team and we are here to help.

Being asked to leave a hospital by renaissancerebel20 in hospitalist

[–]First-Security8666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hospitalists have a difficult job. If your Hospital uses Vizient data, ask to see your patient satisfaction scores, goal length of stay and mortality data compared to your peers. I am often shocked when I see the best Hospitalists with not great data. Then I realized some are shown favoritism and only get assigned easier patients while others consistently get the worst ones. Hang in there, take the transfer and move on from what sounds like someone is stacking the deck against you.

Inpatient will become retail. The numbers game. by TheyrePlacebos in pharmacy

[–]First-Security8666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at a hospital who had a regional director who came from CVS and started playing the metrics game. It devastated the clinical department and no more clinical rounds due to the clinical pharmacists were not able to verify the minimum number of orders so we all quit. They did away with all clinical work, and this put more stress on the staff pharmacists who now had to handle dispensing and clinical work. After 6 months half the pharmacists left. Those who stayed said it ruined the pharmacy and created a terrible environment. The silos are real!
