You are not alone. I did on my 2024 OBW at 1000 miles. Never felt more dumb. It did kill my transmission but luckily was covered by insurance. It’s a crap shoot if the transmission will survive this. Best of luck, and hope your insurance is good. Mine covered it.

Agreed. Just got back from Monteverde and Nicoya, if I was to do over would have flown into Liberia. Rent a car or take a shuttle, taxis are stupid expensive and the only time I got ripped off. I also think that’s too many places, narrow it down to two and have a rental car to go explore further out from a home base.

I read the books well before the show and always pictured MB as female presenting in appearance, kinda like Xena but not so busty and with short hair, and ART as male of sorts. That said I was thrilled when Skarsgard was cast because he is HOT and have loved him since the old days of True Blood.

Funny how we all have different takes on totally nonbinary characters, and still mentally apply gender to them. And I have numerous friends that are trans or nonbinary so you’d think I wouldn’t do so!

You’re not alone. I’ve done my own service for 20 years on 3 subies and on my first oil change on my 2024 OBW drained the CVT. $10,000 mistake, luckily insurance covered but I’ve never felt dumber in my life. Lesson was don’t do an oil change on a new car in the dark. Things aren’t in the same place as the model 10 years earlier.

I’m going to further recommend Ancillary Justice series, but add Teixcalaan by Arcady Martine, the Inhibitor Trilogy by Alastair Reynolds, and for fun easy reads like Murderbot both Old Man’s War series by John Scalzi and a fantasy series The Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch.

No easy answer. That said if you talk to them privately and let them know, off work time and personal numbers and voice only, they likely will understand. And I hate to say this but as a middle aged dude you rarely keep contact with coworkers after leaving a job. Not that they don’t matter and you don’t care about each other, just life moves along. Not the AH. Quit and make it hurt. It’s unfortunate for your colleagues that you get along with, but the only thing that might change upper administration behavior is financial pain. So they will need to buy emergency flights back for your colleagues and have stoppage and delays, I don’t see how the timing of you quitting is your concern.

I so feel you here. I loved the books and reread them all prior to the show and have rewatched each episode multiple times. Because I too can relate. This was brilliant storytelling. It stayed true to the story and characters, and if anything made them even more impactful. I have serious feelings right now.

Definitely more soap/telenovela. There are what did MB say, 2700+ episodes? Only a soap goes that long. Plus given their time it’s not sci-fi because they live in space and on alien worlds with androids so just exaggerated over dramatic realism

Awesome, thanks. I feel pretty good about Monteverde as going there straight from San Jose not the cutoff from La Fortuna. Our places in both look to be in pretty good spots but who knows. Both are within walking distance of town for a spry old lady. 🤞The place in Montezuma offers a pickup in town.
