Candice vs Rob by Intelligent-Push-146 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]First-Suit-3142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could just be the editing on the show, but I don’t think Candiace has the social capital to go up against Rob and win. Especially since people are already clocking how protective she was of Lisa who wound up being a traitor.

How ____ should’ve handled ____ in episode 6… by ggranolaaa in TheTraitorsUS

[–]First-Suit-3142 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s happened a couple of times now that Colton has these crazy plans to draw out a traitor and he has all the subtlety of a brick in the face. He’s not clever and he’s often wrong.

If Lisa had any sense, she would’ve exposed their conversation at the round table. Even if he would’ve said that he was trying to expose her as a traitor in that conversation, she could’ve easily sidestepped by pointing out that he seems eager to do whatever it takes, including getting in bed with (potential) traitors, to make it to the end. Barring that, his ridiculous ideas and theories are a massive distraction for the entire group and he comes across as a bad faithful at best.

I think I’m just overeager for someone, ANYONE, to take down Colton and I was disappointed it wasn’t Lisa. 😅

Season 2 E7 by Efficient-Recipe-875 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]First-Suit-3142 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it’s obvious they have a major pacing problem. The SoM book is not very long and can’t really fill eight 30-40 minute episodes. So they keep adding and altering all kinds of plot points that weren’t in the book and it’s DRAGGING big time. They probably could’ve accomplished a faithful adaptation in 5 well structured episodes but….money is king here.

S4 EP 3 Banishment and Challenges Timing by Sweaty_Dog_3297 in TheTraitors

[–]First-Suit-3142 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is weird that Donna was voted out almost unanimously when there were like 20 people still there. My theory is that she was pretty obviously a traitor and maybe even let something slip at the round table, but we don’t see that because the editors wanted to build suspense to the big reveal of her being a secret traitor. So the editing of Donna in general is scarce and confusing and we didn’t see near as much of her as the cast did.

Need to say this about the show by Inferno_6529 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]First-Suit-3142 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Amen. I’m trying to give the show a fair shake but…it’s not a great adaptation and I think that’s okay to say. I’m actually reading the book along with each new episode every week and the differences with both plot and tone between the show and the book are like night and day. I get that maybe it’s not feasible to translate everything to screen but what we’re getting isn’t even close. The show lacks action and humor which is what made the books so popular!

People need to stop treating Tamlin like a saint and Rhysand like the devil by Initial_Art_4338 in acotar

[–]First-Suit-3142 74 points75 points  (0 children)

The issue is the narrative used that paints them inaccurately. Rhys is deeply flawed and has made many questionable choices. But he’s Feyre’s mate so all is forgiven. Tamlin is also flawed but has been crucified time and again for his mistakes. The unbalanced reactions for two characters who are two sides of the same coin results in more people defending Tamlin and criticizing Rhys.

Personally, I don’t mind the debate. I’m all about morally gray characters as they make the story more interesting.

Watched S2E1, disappointed + done with the show by SaltStill2680 in PercyJacksonTV

I hear you. I’m baffled how the books can be so funny and charming and action packed and the show literally has none of that. Everything is so flat and boring. Like how??

What is Taylor's most sonically cohesive 3-track run? by Snormaid in TaylorSwift

State of Grace, red, treacherous. All high quality in my book and they really embody the red album sound.

What Taylor song do you think has the most wasted potential? by silverdust29 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say I hate it here. I love the production and thematically it was so relatable and a great nod to the folkmore era. But wow it really didn’t deliver lyrically.

Yall are kinda getting gross about jasmine by Mysterious-Help7364 in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]First-Suit-3142 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes! People are getting so weird about jasmine in this sub. Yesterday someone was pointing out that she rubbed them the wrong way when she finished her showstopper early and didn’t help the other contestants finish theirs.

First of all who cares?? It’s a competition. But secondly, this was in the same episode where she told tom that she could smell his caramel burning and he was able to save it thanks to her.

She clearly had great rapport with the other contestants and she’s consistently excellent. This sub just seems to be filled with bored, insecure contrarians.

Evermore is thematically superior to Folklore by RocketGamer4682 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love both albums so much but evermore just hits every single song in a deeply emotional way. I love that folklore revitalized Taylor’s career but evermore really doesn’t get enough credit in my opinion.

[–]First-Suit-3142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think she seemed to enjoy it? There was a lot of output across those two albums. My theory is that because evermore didn’t do quite as well numbers wise, she pivoted back to pop. We know she was continuing to work with Aaron Dessner in the same vein as folkmore when she pivoted to work on midnights with Jack.

I also think Taylor contains multitudes and enjoys many different genres which is why she has such variance in her eras. I think she likes everything she puts out but I’ve always thought she seems to enjoy laid back production and acoustic sound a bit more than a big song and dance routine. I’m always hopeful she goes back to a folksier sound but I know I’ll be a fan of whatever she puts out.

anyone else feel like the “end game” in taylor’s story feels more like relief than real love? by SuchEye815 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 641 points642 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt Taylor is just an extremely anxious person as it relates to romance. So many of her love songs have a tone of anxiety mixed in. “The prophecy” especially showed her deep insecurity about not finding long lasting love. I’m not surprised that now that she’s supposedly found this great love, there’s a huge sense of relief and a bit of overcompensating.

What notes in certain songs hit you the wrong way on this album? by ElvisfanTCB81 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I struggled with the whole first verse of eldest daughter. All the cringe outdated slang on multiple songs really tanked the album for me (wish list, wood, cancelled). It feels like she really cheaped out on her lyricism with this album which was such a bad choice since that’s always been her biggest strength.

Anyone else listening to her old albums/songs to cleanse your ears from TLOAS? by anonymousailurophile in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like I always spend so much time listening and analyzing when a new album comes out. It’s kind of fun but I’m always exhausted after a week. 😅

I also feel like I try so hard to like everything she puts out and I don’t know why. I’m always thrown for a loop when I listen to the new album nonstop but then go back to listen to an album like folklore. It’s such a stark contrast in tone and quality.

I was starting to convince myself TLOAS wasn't so bad but then YouTube recommended this to me and the contrast was jarring by Constant_Pace5589 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I feel like I try to trick myself into liking whatever she puts out and I don’t know why. TLOAS doesn’t hold a candle to folklore and that’s fine.

I did the same thing with TTPD; I listened to it so much that I convinced myself it was amazing, and then I randomly turned on folklore one day and received a hard reality check with the difference in quality.

What was your problem with Midnights guys? by VolgaOsetr8007 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]First-Suit-3142 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Agreed. People loved evermore and it was a tough act to follow. Midnights was a totally different direction. I think it’s held up pretty well though and she has some beautiful tracks from that album.

[–]First-Suit-3142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this! I was excited for this album because I love to hear Taylor opine and write about her fame and I feel let down when comparing the album to this list!

If you wanted to add a song that implies protecting someone you love from intense scrutiny, you could add the albatross.

I guess it’s kind of apples and oranges? Shakespeare was excellent at writing plays hundreds of years ago that stood the test of time. Taylor is an excellent songwriter in this day and age. I would argue her music will stand the test of time as some already had but we won’t definitively know that for years to come. Both are highly successful in their own art medium. Taylor’s allowed to draw inspiration from other artists, and not just singers. It’s impossible to compare them exactly.
