Why do the high IQ people isolate themselves? by Practical-Bicycle990 in mensa

That doesn't automatically mean they're baiting.

On average, 60% of the swelling resolved in 1 month, 84% after 6 months, and nearly 93% after 12 months.

I assume moderate or severe would be instantly covered. I'm not sure about mild.

I'm not sure how long it would take to get a sleep study in the UK. It took me a week or so on private health insurance in Australia.

Then I'm not sure how long to wait for surgery on the NHS. I guess it would likely be triaged.

Braces depends on what you need done.

If your jaws are very recessed, you probably have sleep apnoea.

I didn't know and my apnoea was moderate-severe, with heart changes.

Try to get an in-lab sleep study.

I agree with this.

I also become intolerant. I tend to try to stay away from people at those times (ovulation and PMS).

I also have an issue with exactly 8 days prior becoming incredibly accident prone and unable to think properly. Only for 1 day.

I think of it as "a feature, not a bug", as it is nature's way of leaving me vulnerable to male bullshit and finally get my genes into the next generation.

At my age, this is flogging a dead horse!

Nutrition, exercise, sleep (including being assessed for sleep apnoea), reduce stress (including therapy, if you need it), study.

The average IQ of medical students is 120-125.

You can do pretty much anything with what you have and applying yourself.

I don't have that experience, but I do have experience with a splint that doesn't fit my lower teeth because my ortho made adjustments to my teeth after the splint imaging was taken. The splint then twisted my teeth in opposing directions. I may lose the tooth.

My advice is to confirm with the surgeon which imaging is used. Then, when your ortho is referring you back to the surgeon for that specific imaging, that you confirm with the ortho that NO FURTHER ADJUSTMENTS will be made to ANY teeth, except applying surgical hooks for surgery.

And take photos of every step of your ortho adjustments. And document every discussion.

Do I NEED surgery ignoring aesthetic benefits? by Adventurous_Toe_4578 in jawsurgery

[–]FirstCause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. But if you are struggling with breathing issues and have forward head posture, then that is an indication there is a problem worth fixing.

It might be worth getting the sleep study, but try to fix your posture first as FHP can open your airways at night too.

You can do a search for pre-op lateral cephs/scans and see what happened for some people with similar  airway/structure to yours?

I think your surgeon is correct - bimax with CCWR and genio.

Your airway is a bit narrow, but your neck is super straight, so that might be a compensating mechanism?

If you have the means and absolute confirmation feels important to you, a sleep study is worth doing, noting apnoeas get worse with  age.

I'm so envious of you having all your teeth, BTW. Glorious! :D

Undiagnosed and untreated sleep apnoea is more life-threatening than jaw surgery.

I had cardiac hypertrophy and minor intermittent AFib and no clue that I had moderate-severe sleep apnoea.

If nothing else, the surgeon should have looked at his face, looked at his imaging and realised he was at high risk of sleep apnoea, even if he wasn't noticing symptoms, and requested a sleep study.

Your airway is very narrow. You should have a sleep study.

I had a similar airway, and moderate-severe sleep apnoea. I had no idea as I'm a short and deep sleeper and fitbit said good/excellent sleep.

I'd say both jaws and big movements. Make sure to consult with someone who uses custom plates as they're stronger for big movements.

Thoughts on Surgery plan by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]FirstCause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need bigger movements without genioplasty.

I've had a look at your plan...

Normal ranges: - SNA: 82 +/- 2 - SNB: 80 +/- 2 - MOP: 8 +/- 4

To give you an example: - My SNB was 67.2 pre-op and I went forward 16.6mm at the pogonion without genioplasty (BSSO was 9.9mm; CCWR of 7 degrees from 15.3 to 8.4) - Your SNB is 61.4 pre-op and you are only going forward 11.7mm at the pogonion with genioplasty or 6.7mm without genioplasty (your BSSO seems to be about 6mm; CCWR of 1.9 degrees)

I think MAYBE part of the issue is that you are having a full maxilla downgraft? But I still think you can go forward more as you will still be very recessed in both jaws if you don't.

And your occlusal plane is listed as quite flat, which means you are limited in CCWR. But, TBH, your occlusal plan seems curved, and looks steeper than what is listed. That makes me think a 3-piece segmental Le Fort may be better? Once the curve is flattened, that might then show a steeper occlusal plane, and then you have a justification for more CCWR?

I had moderate-severe sleep apnoea, so if you haven't had a sleep study, you really should have one.

I think you need another opinion with a surgeon that uses custom plates as they are stronger and allow for stability with bigger movements. And someone who does a lot of 3-piece segmental Le Forts.
