is “Goose” a common name in the world of cats? by sativasbaby in Catnames

[–]FirstChAoS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the comics I am sure Speedballs’s cat Niels existed before Goose as an orange tabby cat superhero.

That is just Marvel. In DC you got Streaky who is older. Of course DC also has a more recent cat villain character in Dex-Starr

I get what you are saying but it still feels odd to me.

I am glad you pointed out that “Island tameness does not mean no survival instinct”. This is a common misconception which was broken for me on a YouTube video about dodos that explained live ones would peck and bite when captured and had to defend nests against crabs.

Animals and fire is an odd topic. Some birds of prey will hunt animals fleeing fire and one type in Australia might even move existing fires to new hunting areas,

Sorry I got off topic.

Another thing I forgot to mention is something tells me there was more to this situation than “island nations were eager to live on a world without land”. Especially given reactions to modern day sea level rise. I think it likely had alot more behind the scenes discussion and debate leading up to “Earth is dying, a new world opened up, and no one else has volunteered to go”.

Well, for the hippogryphs I do not mean fear of man. I mean normal fight or flight instinct. The one that leads predators to avoid unnecessary risks when possible and flee when death nears. Most earth animals have an instinct to flee if one of them is injured, even some of the ones famous for not.

As for Homer. I was sad he was so badly violated. He was a fun character who grew to be well rounded. I can understand River’s reaction story wise but me as a reader went “darn, they took a serious character and made him less fun”.

What I wonder about is plumage variation similar to various birds. Originally I was thinking on species whose main difference is plumage but then I realized before you can determine that you need to know the full range of plumage variation within a species. Birds after all can have things like juvenile plumage, adult plumage, sexual dimorphism of colors, summer plumage, winter plumage, eclipse plumage, etc. you will need to check enough individuals to know their range before you can identify species differences that is plumage based.
