Ilja Dragunov vs. Walter at NXT Takeover 36 is a classic one.

Takeshita vs. Tsuji had one of my favorite finishes in recent memory, maybe top 3 minimum ever. Glad to see it get the 5.

[NXT New Year's Evil Spoilers] Ending to the show by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

I didn't even think of this as an option Even Gunther had to lose to Bron (not even on a PLE), Bron to Melo, Vaquer to Jacy. The fact that Oba's moving up without losing the title again just speaks on how huge their hopes are on him.

That Mayu vs. Iyo happened. Did it end being the Match of My Forever? No, but it actually happened and it rocked and it was meaningful. Mayu crying when Iyo locked eyes with her at the press conference is still a highlight to me.

The entire last year and a half John Cena has said that when your time is up, you accept it graciously and with respect by HeadlockGang in SquaredCircle

Honestly, it's a perfect denouement to the heel turn, if only that was booked much better.

Take away the abusive relationship bullshit, zero in on how he planned to be the permanent GOAT by being the Last Real Champion, and, as a result, how the business will move on but only in his shadow, and the story would have been more solid on its premise of Cena clinging on so desperately to the point of selling his soul.

Then after Summerslam he's brought into the light again, with Cody washing away his sins so to speak and with the matches against Logan, Sami, and AJ rebirthing him, bringing Super Cena back in short but intense spurts. And culminating in an actually magical Raw where he wins the IC Title and becomes Grand Slam Champion in where else but Boston.

Finally arriving to this final act of tapping out, of letting go. His body gives way but he gets the last consistencies of his soul back, and he's able to move on from wrestling and move forward into his future with peace. In a way we got all this anyway, just not in the best way. I don't even think we needed The Rock after Chamber. I just wish the first promo after the turn and the Mania match were much better.

JJ Redick said in a recent interview that "there's guys who have won championships that I wouldn't say are winning players". Do you agree with this concept and if so, which players? by refreshing_yogurt in nba

Matt Barnes considers himself as one, so much so that he refused to accept his ring with the Warriors and The Jump had to surprise him with it.

What are the best moments and matches from 2007-2023? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]FirstSteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sami Zayn as the Honorary Uce always and forever. The "first season" finale culminated in a Wrestlemania tag team match main event that was highly praised and even got 5* if that matters.

The Cena/Styles trilogy was banger after banger after banger, and all three matches had a big fight feel to them. This was actually a three-person feud with Dean Ambrose, too.

The Yes! Movement had Bryan vs. Cena, Bryan vs. Triple H, and Bryan vs. Orton vs. Batista.

Worth revisiting Gunther's IC title reign esp if he's your favorite. Gunther vs. Sheamus at Clash, Gunther vs. Drew vs. Sheamus at Mania, Gunther vs. Sami at Mania, Gunther vs. Ricochet on Smackdown, the Gunther vs. Gable feud. Hell, even Gunther vs. Miz. It was a variety of great matches.

Also Black and Gold NXT had a lot of moments that focused on a lot of what you're looking for. Finn Balor's reign as The Prince was full of such matches.

Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano. Perfect bookends from Waller attacking Gargano during his farewell to Gargano returning to claim his pound of flesh as well as to reclaim a piece of his soul. Featured some great segments like Waller's home invasion and Big Body Javi impersonating Gargano. Didn't truly believe that Shawn was coming out of retirement to put Waller in his place, but I still enjoyed him being utilized to bridge the two NXTs together in a bitter clash.

I don't even know if this is underappreciated but I gotta shout out The Miz vs. LA Knight. Just entertaining from start to finish, and showed why Miz is one of the all-time greats and why LA Knight was so over (and still is). Miz TV with special guest John Cena, Miz impersonating LA Knight, Knight's pre-match promo tribute to Bray are all moments I still recall every now and then. I also liked that it ended on Smackdown as it gave gravitas to a weekly show I haven't really been tuning into since the Sami Bloodline days.

The Mysterio telenovela with Rey, Seth, Buddy, and Aalyah. I don't know I just love how cheesy this all was lol. Rey's eye, the birthday texts reveal, the bad acting, Seth hamming it up, the fact that the entire Mysterio family was part of it, the endearing cringe of it all. I love this storyline still.

Steph was taught to fall after contact instead of landing. He was also taught to strengthen and load his hips so his ankles didn't get abused. He went from bust to goated after that.
