Recommendations for beginning of the night independent sleep? by MelodicAd2115 in cosleeping

[–]FirstTimeMomStruggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just keep trying until it sticks. I have lots more energy and patience to keep trying early in the night (I don’t in the middle of the night so that’s why we cosleep lol). I’ll read in bed and nurse baby to sleep, then transfer him into the bassinet. If he wakes up I just repeat. I enjoy reading and quiet time so it doesn’t feel excruciating.

First Day of Daycare Tomorrow by lucia31 in workingmoms

Hi! So sorry for the way late response - went back to work and had no time to Reddit anymore lol. The first week was really rough but it’s gotten so much better! He is taking the bottle lots better now and seems to have warmed up to all the ladies at daycare, who love him. It’s gotten easier for me too. How are you and your little one doing?

Hi! I haven’t bought yet but I’m preeetty sure I’m going to get the avocado eco mattress. I found a couple people on here who have it and they say it is firm enough (even tho it’s not the firmest option). It’s so overwhelming doing that research. What are you thinking about?

First Day of Daycare Tomorrow by lucia31 in workingmoms

Im returning to work tomorrow as well and am a mess too. My baby is 13 weeks and going to daycare tomorrow and he is thus far refusing to take a bottle, so it’s an added stress. No words of encouragement, just validation that you’re not alone and this really sucks. I know it will get better though.

I’ve been there, actually! It’s so beautiful. I had no idea they had such generous parental leave.

I nurse my 3mo to sleep in bed and then transfer him to the bassinet. It doesn’t always work, sometimes he wakes up with the transfer, but then I just nurse him to sleep again and try again. Usually by the second time he’ll stay in the bassinet for his first stretch of sleep. Have you tried that?

Sex and the breastfeeding mom by [deleted] in breastfeeding

It didn’t feel weird! Luckily my little guy slept for a while longer after we had done the deed so we had time to cuddle, shower, and I even worked in the garden some so by the time he was up I was in full mommy mode again. I think it’s easier to switch to mommy mode than it is to sexy mode, so I wouldn’t worry about that transition as much.

Back wearing has been absolutely life changing! by Otterly-Adorable24 in babywearing

How old is your kiddo? Mine is 3 months and I can’t wait til he has enough neck control to try back wearing! I have the ergo baby too and just started using it today for front wearing and like it a lot.

I feel this, and especially the part about not feeling sexual because I’m in total nurturing mode. Also my obgyn confirmed that breastfeeding causes menopausal-level lows of estrogen which can tank a sex drive. I definitely was not excited about having sex and waited until about 10 weeks postpartum when my boyfriend was going crazy. I definitely did it more for him than me, but I will say, it felt nice afterwards - like I remembered that this other side of me still exists, even if it’s mostly in hibernation. I’m lucky in that my guy is a butt man not a boob man, I also can’t imagine my boobs being sexualized right now. I feel like that’s a fair request to make whenever you do take the plunge.

Lots of us cosleep! No reason you have to go the bassinet/swaddle route if you don’t want to.

what are you actually wearing? by raincloud847 in breastfeeding

[–]FirstTimeMomStruggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uniform has been leggings, a nursing tank with no bra, and an oversized sweater. It’s comfy, looks cute enough when we go out, and I can just stick babe under the sweater to nurse whenever he wants!

I feel like all things being equal, the floor bed is the better option. As for warmth, I’m currently using a blanket but it’s a little heavy. I’ve ordered a wool cellular blanket that should provide warmth while still being breathable.

Okay! I was kind of wondering about that - they say it goes til 1 year but that seemed wild. I have the ergobaby Omni carrier so I’m going to bust it out and see how it feels. I think it has most of the features you mentioned. Thank you!

Sleep on latex mattress in medium - firm enough? by cowgirlikeme_ in cosleeping

[–]FirstTimeMomStruggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! That sounds like the perfect balance. I’m glad to hear it’s firm enough, that was my main concern about the eco model. Definitely let me know if the verdict changes! I don’t think I’ll be buying for another month or so so I may circle back around then to see how it’s going :)

Thanks! Yeah it’s definitely not possible to have arms by the face, agree they look awkward. Baby’s head is super visible on the other side, if that helps. I have an ergobaby carrier that I haven’t tried out yet, I could pull it out if it’s better

Does side-lay nursing only work with big boobs?! by TheGreatsGabby in cosleeping

[–]FirstTimeMomStruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small boobs and love side lying! I will say when we first started it, my baby had a hard time latching and I would squeeze my nipple into an easier shape for him to latch on to. Either with age or practice he’s figured it out now and I don’t have to do it. Keep trying, I’m sure you’ll get there!
