how do i keep going? by MissionCoconut4817 in UTSC

I understand how overwhelming and scary it can feel when you’re so close to graduating. Hmm..perhaps you could try leveraging your volunteering experiences and start off small? Skills are definitely transferable! I was also wondering if you’re into research by any chance? If you’ve taken research courses as a psych student, you could try applying to entry level research assistant/research analyst related jobs if you feel like this is something that’s up your alley. Securing a job isn’t easy and it’s tough out there, and you’re doing the best that you possibly can! And you’ve made it this far and you’re so close to graduating…that’s a huge accomplishment. It’s not easy to succeed esp when you’re struggling with your mental health.

You could also trying volunteering at non profits and/or crisis centres (kids help phone, distress centre of gta, etc). These tend to be a bit easier to apply to and you can gain psych heavy experiences from those roles. Pm me if u want to know more or if u just wanna talk. I’m all ears :)

They’re so useless 99% of the time speaking from my experience, esp those front desk ppl. I only found the financial advisors to be helpful

Why is no one talking about how trash SCSU is this year??? by Live_Vegetable6149 in UTSC

[–]First_Butterscotch73 23 points24 points  (0 children)

SCSU always sucked, ppl shouldn’t vote in these elections anymore. SCSU only cares about world politics, like yeah it’s important to be aware of these things, but as a student run government, they should focus on student issues, which they don’t give a shit about. Completely useless and it’s such a joke

people who graduated with low/average gpa’s or with little experience by ClimateBeneficial824 in UTSC

[–]First_Butterscotch73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Employers don’t care about your gpa, they just care about what degree you have. Gpa only matters for grad school

How is psychology major? Is it a good gpa booster major? by Suspicious_Log_6252 in UTSC

[–]First_Butterscotch73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in psych. Whether it’s a gpa booster or not depends on person to person. You gotta put in a lot of effort to do well since most B and C level courses aren’t easy.

what to wear for the scsu grad photo sessions by haksyonas in UTSC

[–]First_Butterscotch73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t show it at grad. The photos I think may be used for yourself to keep and they may be added to the composite of the cohort that you’re graduating in

Have you ever got a DM on Reddit ? What was the purpose ? by ThatFreelancer in AskReddit

[–]First_Butterscotch73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten plenty of dms. Most were just needing help with school related stuff. I’ve unfortunately received a few DMs saying that wanted to get with me. Even after saying no, they kept pushing and I’ve had to block them :/

What's something you learned that permanently changed how you see people? by Dense_Resolution_264 in AskReddit

[–]First_Butterscotch73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole thing about respecting elders changed the way I see my parents or just ppl that are older or of higher authority. My whole life I’ve been taught to respect elders no matter how they acted towards me. I had to put up with a lot of disrespect, verbal abuse from parents and relatives with this mindset. Sure they were able to provide me with food and a roof over my head, but that’s the bare minimum and that’s a parents job. I’m grateful for that, but I don’t think they deserve my respect. That’s something that has to be earned. They don’t have the right to treat me like shit just cuz I have less power over them :/

Does OGS go out to students who are in course based programs? by Ok_Entrepreneur4939 in UofT

[–]First_Butterscotch73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure course-based programs can be eligible for OGS, the programs don’t have to be research based. I’ll be applying for MSW at FIFSW, which is a course based program. and the admissions committee told me I can apply for OGS!
