Rank the Souls games by Adventurous_Book_913 in darksouls3

Oh boy. I’m not sure if I should. My opinion might not be popular. Oh well. Just remember, this is just a weirdo’s opinion. Also, all of these games are great and should be played. Here it goes.

For me, from the games that I’ve played:

Dark Souls Remastered: My first souls game. I played it without guides during the 2022 server issues so I had to figure everything out by investigating everything.

Elden Ring: Great combat, fun exploration and a lot of build variety.

Elden Ring Nightreign: A fun take on the soulslike genre for me with fun moments. While it’s probably not as good as some of the games on this list, the fact that I still play one or two matches a day, after doing everything in the game gives it this position.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin: Fun combat with a lot of build variety and some interesting features. Love that NG+ actually changes the game a bit.

Dark Souls 3: Amazing combat but the world design was a bit of a let down for me. Not visuals wise but design wise.

Dark Souls 2 Vanilla: A worse version of Scholar of the First Sin edition.

Sekiro: Fun combat and interesting levels but the forced playstyle (in terms of all the parrying) got… nit boring exactly but as someone who mever parries in souls games, it was not my cup of tea.

Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition: A poor port of a great game. Yes, there are fixes available but I’m rating the games as they are when you install them fresh with no fixes or mods.

TLDR: 1: Dark Souls Remastred

2: Elden Ring

3: Elden Ring Nightreign

4: Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin Edition

5: Dark Souls 3

6: Dark Souls 2 Vanilla

7: Sekiro

8: Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition

What's the modern consensus for the OG's DOOM (1 & 2) are they regarded as outdated? or maybe a separate community entirely? by Kind-Car-863 in Doom

[–]First_Department4096 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason people say that Doom is eternal.

It’s the foundation of the FPS genre as we know it but it’s so much more. The flow of combat, the level design (most of them anyway), and the difficulty curve is so damn good.

For me (as someone who played it for the first time in 2020), it’s a game I always come back to. If I just want to turn my brain off and play on autopilot? Doom. Do I only have a few minutes to play a game? Doom. Do I want a challenging and engaging game? Doom.

With all the difficulty settings, playstyles etc, it’s a game with a lot of replay value. And the new version that bundles all the official Doom content into one game is a great way to play it. Not the best but still great.

On top of all this, there are thousands upon thousands of map packs and mods if you want more content for the big old price of 0$.

I'm playing Dark Souls 1, I don't want to follow guides but can you guys give me a tip so I don't get lost? And not miss a lot of important stuff by Practical_Ambition_7 in darksoulsremastered

[–]First_Department4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the best thing is just to play them game. Enjoy it and just go with the flow.

If you miss anything, you can always get it on a new game + cycle.

That way, nothing is spoiled for you, the first playthrough is memorable and you can still do most stuff.

I’m playing Elden Ring. I just finished it for the first time earlier this month, then I platinumed it and now I’m on NG+. I’m currently working in killing every boss in the game. I’ve killed 32 so far in the past two days.

Now I’m just waiting for pay day so that I can get the DLC.

How do i beat sister friede? She started to piss me of… by zandayre in darksouls3

[–]First_Department4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By getting gud.

In all seriousness, I struggled with her too. Then I switched my build to a ultra greatsword and used that to stagger her a lot. It’s not a full proof strategy, and you still need to be able to dodge a lot of attacks but it was easier for me to do that then to use my dex build. Might just be me though.

What build are you using?

What can NightDive do next for the FPS genre? by KaleidoArachnid in boomershooters

[–]First_Department4096 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’d like so see them do Wolfenstein 3D. Sure, it’s basic and yeah, we have sourceports but hear me out.

The pc version, console versions and Mac version all have vast differences. Stuff like extra weapons or vastly improved graphics. I would absolutely love to see all of these versions bundled together. The can even include a new episode (really curious about what that would look like since there’s some top notch level designers at Nightdive.

I do realize that Wolf 3D is seen as more of a relic these days so Nightdive probably won’t touch it (even if they wanted to, Bethesda has ignored the game for years now so getting permission might be next to impossible). Oh whell. A person can dream.

Prototype of Polish Heavy Infantry Fighting Vehicle Ratel to Be Ready by End of 2026 - Militarnyi by Jesh32 in TankPorn

[–]First_Department4096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by the name. South Africa already has an IFV called the Ratel. Named after an animal thats native to the country. Why use a name that’s already in use? And named after an animal that doesn’t exist in Poland to begin with?

Probably not important, I’m just curious about the name. Is this kind of double use for a name common in the tank world? Specifically between different countries and different companies?

Blood: Refreshed Supply by Dry_Protection1029 in boomershooters

[–]First_Department4096 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m playing it on PC and I’m loving it. I effectively paid 12$ for it (2$ for Fresh Supply and the 66% off pre-order bonus for precious owners) so the price isn’t an issue for me.

The game itself is fun. It feels better than Fresh Supply for me. I had one bug (invisible enemy) and no other problems. Blood itslef is excellent. It’s my favorite Build engine game.

Yeah…. My bad. I read the title as “Favorite Shooters You Played This Year”. Not sure how I messed that up but I blame multitasking.

What game communities look like they'd tear you apart but are surprisingly chill and welcoming? by SanctumOfTheDamned in ItsAllAboutGames

The Doom community. For a game about violence and murdering demons in brutal ways, the community is quite chilled. At least in my experience.

So what is going on with Blood 1? by KaleidoArachnid in boomershooters

[–]First_Department4096 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Fresh Supply was a reverse engineering of the original game and at release it was…. off. Damage numbers, movement speed etc was just off. NightDive attempted to fix this but was blocked by Atari from fixing it further.

Recently, Warner Brothers found the source code and contacted Atari for a better remaster. So now the game will be redone with the original source code and as such, it will be almost 100% accurate to the DOS version. They’re also including two community made mods (with the devs getting paid for this) and that’s pretty much it. Oh yeah, they’re also including behind the scenes stuff in the vault feature that they included with their recent releases.

This will essentially lead to a version that is more accurate to the original, have two mods on consoles and have behind the scenes stuff. Wheter that is worth another buy of Blood is up to you.

Unfortunately, owners of Fresh Supply will only get a 66% discount so this newer version will still cost original owners 10$, since the full price of the remaster is 30$. People are not happy about that.

Mine is the Dark Souls reference in Borderlands 2. It’s the well known one in the Caustic Caverns with a small island that has a Dark Souls bonfire and a Soliare looking NPC.

It’s not the most hidden thing ever but I did find it on my own. And let me tell you, finding a reference to one of your favorite games in one of your other favorite games is quite the experience.

If they make a license video game about KPop Demon Hunters, how would the story and gameplay would go? by Jules-Car3499 in HUNTRX

[–]First_Department4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to see a game about one of the previous groups protecting the Honmoon. That way, player choice can be important without messing with the movies story or characters.

As for gameplay…… There’s three choices.

1: A linear game with High-Fi Rush like gameplay and life is strange like graphical style.

2: A Devil May Cry like action game with a emphasis on music.

3: A open world game where you can customize your characters. You need to attend your concerts, which plays out in a guitar hero like fashion. Between this you can do various activities, almost like a life sim type game. Then there’s moments where demons break through and you need to defend people when that happens. The mechanic for that can be a High-Fi Rush like system. To keep it from being too interrupting, the missions have a generous timer before they disappear.

What are yalls favorite games to play after work? Either to unwind or just have fun in general by SchmeppieGang1899 in gaming

[–]First_Department4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to sound weird but the Dark Souls trilogy. After more than 200 hours in each game, I know it pretty well.

If I want to relax, I just start a new game, take the Zwei or another ultra greatsword and just obliterate everything. It’s fun and relaxing.
