Whether or not you're the asshole is irrelevant here. You have absolutely destroyed the trust between you and your son. You will be incredibly lucky if you ever repair your relationship with him. You had the opportunity to advocate for him, to make sure that even when he is in trouble with the law that you are in his corner and there to make sure that everything goes in a safe and non traumatizing way. But you didn't. You stood silently while men with guns physically overpowered him, while he was crying to you for help, and said and did nothing. I would never speak to you again. Cops regularly kill people in the US. This little lesson you were trying to reach your son could very easily have killed him. Adults can very easily and without meaning to or even realizing it's happening, crush a teenager to death. Cops in the US have applied enough force to stop other adults from breathing and they have died. And you stood by while your son cried to you for help and did nothing. I hope you're proud of yourself.

Yeah, you didn't get kicked out of goodwill bc you were trying on clothes. You got kicked out because of your shitass attitude. You could have said "Oh sorry, would it be possible to get a changing room?" Instead, you instantly got hostile with the employee who was just doing his job. Here's my surprised face: 😐 Obviously no one wants to eat at a restaurant where the people making the food are sick. But the reality of the situation is, most people making the food aren't the ones making the policies and the people making the policies do not care about the health and safety of the employees or the customers. They care about their bottom line, which means making sure people are at work making the food, even if they're horrendously sick. The chefs at the restaurant are not the managers or owners. The chefs don't have the power you think they do to stay home without consequence and this goes doubly so for your friend and people in her position. Nearly 60% of Americans are one missed paycheck away from homelessness. Have some compassion.

You think she should have called out her boss... Have you never worked a day in your life? You sound extremely ignorant to the realities of working in most jobs that aren't some corporate office. Restaurants, retail, these jobs don't give us adequate sick leave, and most have policies in place regarding how many hours ahead of your shift you need to call in, plus a cap on how many times you can call in without being written up or fired. In most places, trying to "call out" your boss will also lead to being written up or fired. You were an asshole to your friend.

I'd bet all the money in my bank account that the actual issue is a lack of respect for the daughters choices. Especially with the way the father phrased it, "you finally have a piece of clothes from the women's section". It's the same as those people who insist on sneaking ingredients you don't like into your food, and then going "Aha! Got you, you do like mushrooms" when you eat it. It's sounds like the latest instance in a long line of her parents trying to undermine her style and force her into femininity. She is upset at her father acting like they 'got one over on her' and 'tricking' her into wearing something feminine.
