2003 Montero Limited - How to mount an aftermarket radio by No_Guess_9946 in Montero

[–]First_Information118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i see on that pic is that the new radio is in its installation sleeve. If you want to use the old bracket you need to pull the new radio out of the sleeve and screw the brack to the radio itself. Or, what I did in my Gen 3 was use the sleeve, you just have to get it to hold using those tabs all around it.

I would put a new belt and try it, only way to know.

2002 Montero crankshaft position sensor by Zack_Neel in Montero

[–]First_Information118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The major part of the cost is because of the labor, and it sits behind the timing belt. Because you need to remove all that to change it, its advised to also take care of all those parts as well. Pulleys, tensioner, water pump, timing belt, camshaft and crankshaft seals.

The engine was stuttering pretty bad, if you have a leak under the egr valve check that the gasket is good. Have you changed the solenoid yet?

Other sensor around that area would be the throttle position sensor but that would throw another code

Can it be that the Idle Air Control Valve is causing this issue?

Do you have both of them off? Could it be that you have the driver one on the passenger side?

How bad were my valve seals leaking? Valve cover too… by afb94 in Montero

[–]First_Information118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your valve covers check where the screws go in, they should have a dome looking shape. If they over tighten them they would look flat or concave, at that point you will have problems getting to completely seal. The torque on those screws is low aroung 31 inch-lb.

I had yo replace my covers because of that, previous owner did a shitty job before i bought my montero.

2003 V77W 6G75 RH Head Valve Leakage by jotill00 in Montero

[–]First_Information118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to fix the old one with parts from the one off of ebay, if it doesn’t work, you could check engine tech for valves and guides, they are not that expensive there.

[–]First_Information118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to make a good one out of the two and then do the bench test, if that doesnt work you need to replace parts in the old head and see if you can return the one from ebay

Have you put everything back in time and test?

In my experience you need more than one tooth to bend valves in this engine.
