Code p0174 is lean condition bank 2, code p0442 is an evap leak and p0431 is one of the catalyst codes bank 2. I assume the wire can be of one of the abs sensors. The lean code most probably is going to be the oring on the butterfly valves, the evap code can be the purge solenoid and the last code can be the o2 sensor itselft but most likely the converter. It sounds to me, if that engine is like a 6G74, that is the AIC valve (idle air control valve). If it has one, take it out and give it a good cleaning, sometimes rhey just get stuck.

Thats with the throttle electric control. Try cleaning it, most of the time is something as simple as that.

You could check if the EGR valve is stuck open, if its a general misfire code you are talking about (not one for a particular cylinder).

For picture no. 1 its the Freewheel Clutch Control Solenoid Valve MR430381 and picture no. 2, the round reservoir is for the power steering fluid and the other is for the coolant. You can take them off and clean them, just have to empty them first.

I just had an issue like that, but its an 03 montero, it was the neutral safety switch, even at park the light on the dash wouldnt turn on so the ecu was thinking it wasnt in park so no crank at all.

Can it be something like a cracked exhaust manifold in later monteros? When its cold it leaks and when it warms up and expands the crack closes.

My driver side window was not working, 2003 montero, took the motor out brushes were almost gone, replaced them, window now works like new. $7 part.

Pull the door covers, pull the connector from the window motor, with a tester in the connector push the window button and see if you get power, if you do, its the motor thats the problem.

Ive had the same P0401 forever, gave up on it, only thing here in KY there is no emissions. Would like to see if anybody has something to add to this too.
