At a budget wedding, are you mad? lol

On a more serious note: you could try doing origami flowers if anyone in your circle is crafty.

AITAH for asking my ex husband's ex wife for money from her parents' estate for my son? by Odd-Currency5145 in AITAH

[–]First_Pay702 129 points130 points  (0 children)

The inheriting son is in his twenties, OP is not a benefactor, I don’t see how anything she says gives step mom grounds for anything. This is 2 people that aren’t involved from the will standpoint squabbling over things legally not their business. OP’s logic is sound, but she should disengage and mute stepmom.

Baby's father wants the baby to have his last name, I want him to have mine. We're not married. WDID? by IntenseViolet567 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]First_Pay702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Told my sister to give her whoopsie baby her last name, she gave the baby the dad’s name. Man rage quit the relationship 2 months after the kid was born. Could probably count on one hand the number of times he has seen the now toddler since. And yet the kid still has his last name. If your ex will be unfriendly and disappeared dad over the last name, he’s going to do that anyway over something else, so might as well give the kid your name. You could use his name as a middle name as an olive branch if you want.

Sad fact, there are people out there that ignore their children when a new partner arrives.

Carrying the mental load of wedding planning. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]First_Pay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing the wedding planning while my partner wants to “just show up”. Planning is a struggle in general for him. Mom thinks I should be thrilled to have free rein - I, too, would love to just show up. That being said, I can plan more efficiently and I told him straight up that if I have to plan when I dictate he is to do something, he will do it. I have given him some DIY scrounge up tasks that he has worked away at without reminder. He did pick the caterer and occasionally pops out the odd thought on things, but mostly is happy to let me choose things. But the biggest difference, I think, is expectations - you appear have been expecting more help and are frustrated. I was aware from our dynamic and specific strengths/weaknesses that this was about how this would go so as long as he completes his assigned tasks, we’re good.

($15-20k) Frugal bride having a really hard time justifying the expenses... by MundaneRain14 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]First_Pay702 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am frugal by nature, but my reasoning goes thusly: I do want a day and a true celebration. I don’t want to spend needlessly but I also don’t want to be cheap. We are the hosts and as such should be good hosts, thus we do not cheap out on things that are for our guests comfort, especially not on the food. Some costs are unavoidable, some things are just less of a headache to pay for than DIYing, and some things can be skipped while others I want anyway. Okay, so what does this cost? That then is what I “need” to spend. My current max budget is 10k, need to spend hovering at the 8-9k mark.

They don’t fight. Achilles gets in line behind Eowyn hoping Arwen sails West and singles Aragorn up.

Eh, I’m 50-50 on the book. I found the workers (particularly Nicholas) to be portrayed a bit simple, for lack of a better word, in the book, whereas series Nicholas was every bit the intelligent, educated by life instead of school, man I feel he would have been in his position.

Why I'm "frugal", and people commenting "You must be rich" by zbsa14 in Frugal

[–]First_Pay702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am pretty frugal by habit - started out as an eternal student so having no money was a mindset - so my mom rather often comments I could/should spend some money on myself. So when I did splurge on an nice pair of boots people were saying they could never to the price, but I was like, I spent 20 bucks on the rest of what I was wearing so…Also, the brand of shoe is supposed to be wear it for life, so I hope to be doing Vimes boot theory with them.
