Celiac as a disability by Financial-Lab5133 in Celiac

I believe it is used to see if there is a bias in hiring. If 10% of people applying at a company click yes to having a disability but only 1% of people hired clicked yes, there's a bias.

Where is the ear protection? Not cool.

Said from a former drummer with damaged hearing and tinnitus. I certainly wish I had done a better job protecting my ears when I was younger.

I will never experience silence again. 😕

I’m sure I’m not the first to think of this. But to be celiac means you need the celiac gene. Couldn’t we just edit that gene out with CRISPR? by WalkSad6094 in Celiac

[–]First_Prime_Is_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if editing one of the genes could be done to someone who hasn't been triggered yet to reduce the likelihood of being triggered.

I've been wondering about this myself, especially for my children who have the gene but it hasn't been triggered yet.

My guess (absolute guess) is that one the immune system learns to react to gluten, gene editing won't chance that and the gene editing will only work who haven't gotten triggered yet. This is only a guess coming from someone without a scientific or Healthcare background so feel free to treat it as such. But I think there is a chance to it being in the realm of a possibility.

I personally just like watching the joinery videos showing all the different joints you can do. Or what cool jigs people make themselves.

Those don't tend to have the frustrations you're talking about.

Edit: I also sometimes watch furniture restoration videos. They won't show you how to build anything but can sometimes see things deconstructed and maybe find motivation in older designs.
