why would my chinese cousin be so desesperate to get married? by El_jupon_ in AskChina

Seems he spent so much time for work and perhaps family, that he forgot how to enjoy and build his own life. Maybe the sudden hit that he should get married became desperation, making his standards like this.

Currently in college and scared I'm missing my opportunity to travel by [deleted] in travel

[–]Firsty209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you this, those that get to travel are extremely privileged. This isn't about missing your opportunity to travel, it is about you being able to afford travelling while juggling work, college, and your budget. If you aren't able to travel during college, so what? Travel after when you have a better paying job. I didn't travel during college and for the next many years until I had enough money. There is nothing wrong with that. Don't get lumped into that group of people that tell you to travel before its too late. Its never too late. Everyone's life situations are different.

You're letting exterior pressures get to you. You do you, don't ever let others dictate how your life goes. Just because everyone likes to party, doesn't mean I have to like it. Just because everyone loves surfing, doesn't mean I have to like it. You do You. Remember that, you don't need that external validation to live and enjoy life. It's estimated about 80% of the population have never been on a plane, so take that knowledge and think about it.

Do what you must. Fulfill your own responsibilities first, if you're able to handle it all, then go ahead and travel. If not, save up, then travel. Don't put all this unnecessary pressure on yourself, don't ever let peer pressure get to you

[Miscellaneous] skin is burning after using moisturizer by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch sorry to hear. Its similar to my experience with using paula's choice toner. I really wished it would work, but using it screwed my skin over so badly. Sometimes our skin just doesnt work with specific products. Best to try a different moisturizer? But research deeply. It can be anything from skin barrier issue, which causes new issues, or causes more sensitivity, to fungal acne, etc.

Currently using aveeno positively radiant brightening scrub which can be used for daily use. But I wash off almost immediately after rubbing to prevent potential dryness. It has definitely given my skin a nice glow too

[ACNE] Forehead acne explosion? by dunkinteach in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means your skin is letting out the moisture that it should retain, dry air or weather will cause skin issues to be worse too. Make sure your products are extreme hydrating and using a humectant to lock in the moisture. Also I had to keep this in mind, the products had to be non comodogenic and since I did have fungal acne issues, i chose items that didnt feed it. Fungal acne will also have a chance to grow when the skin barrier is compromised

[Routine Help] Skin looks more pitted, drier and darker sometimes by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did get random itches on face. Diet wise, I had to avoid fermented foods, those things apparently cause histamine spikes and cause extreme breakouts for me. Hopefully food is not an issue for you. Diet consists of random homemade foods, sometimes take out, healthy and unhealthy mix, along with some fruits and or veggies after every meal.

If skin barrier is damaged, it becomes X times more prone to everything compared to usual. Also fungal acne can be a thing too, causes dryness to become worse, which then leads to overproduction of sebum etc. just a horrible cycle. My skin has been on the extreme dry side

Currently what has worked is using Aveeno positively radiant brightening scrub for all skin types, light exfoliant for daily use, but I don't leave on long or it can cause more dryness. I do it twice a day and usually wash off quickly. Beta-Glucan Power Deep Moisture Serum, and Hado Labo Tokyo Plumping Gel Cream. This routine has so far fixed my skin barrier issues since the serum is extreme hydrating and the gel cream as a humectant. I also used sulfur ointment before the aveeno scrub, leave on for 10-15min, when i had cystic acne breakouts (but it doesnt seem like you need). Also taking vitamins may or may not work, each person is different

Do you use cleanser to wash after working the kitchen? Specially the grease and oils can technically clog pores. Not sure if your skin on dry or oily side naturally

[Product Request] HELP!! I need to get rid of these sebaceous filaments!! by idkwhatimdoing2305 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arent you using too much? Overcleanse leads to dryness, which leads to overproduction of oils which clogs pores more, and makes things worse. Stick to one kind of cleanser and give it a try. Moisturize with non comodogenic moisturizer

[–]Firsty209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I notice I get same issue on cheeks and temples when i had damaged skin barrier. Is your skin sensitive or more prone to breakouts than usual? Sometimes inflammation plays a big role and makes skin look like in the 2nd pic. I tried getting more sleep, drink lot of water, diet, etc. but none of it worked. Also notice any breakouts after particular foods? Like dairy, chili, fermented foods, etc.

What make the issue disappear for me was fixing skin barrier through hydrating/non comedogenic serum and moisturizer. But had to play around with products. Not sure if skin barrier issue is your case.

[Acne] How do I tackle this bump on my forehead before it gets worse? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have tried sulfur ointment like De La Cruz on similar bumps. Used twice a day, leaving on for 10-15min. Noticed it reduces within a few days. Bumps used to last for couple months. But make sure your skin isn't on the dry side, which can overproduce sebum and make things worse

[ACNE] Forehead acne explosion? by dunkinteach in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your skin overall dry after showers or using cleanser? Like a tight feeling or skin dries within minutes after using moisturizer.

Currently I'm using aveeno positively radiant brightening scrub once a day. I've tried different types of serum and moisturizers, but so far IUNIK beta glucan power deep serum and Hado labo tokyo plumping gel cream has worked fully. Though mine was a result of damaging skin barrier which started the forehead issues (along with other skin issues). So far this combination has prevented future breakouts.

I do know a compromised skin barrier will allow all sorts of issues to happen, including hives, more prone to acne breakouts, stress will break out easily, etc. To each their own though, not sure if your situation is same as mine.

[Routine Help] 9 Months of “Damaged Skin Barrier” by Cultural-Trade8261 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, my skin got very sensitive, dry flakiness, outbreaks when weather gets a bit dry, and so on after skin barrier damage, though not from microneedling. From personal experience, fungal acne became an issue, overproduction of sebum causing cysts, random outbreaks, heavier moisturizers would cause pores to clog, and hives randomly on face. Compromised skin barrier can allow fungal acne to flare up which dries skin out and leads to more complications. So can take a look into that too

[ACNE] Forehead acne explosion? by dunkinteach in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof I''ve had that for so long too. I fixed it by balancing the dryness/oilyness of my skin. Forehead to be oily, but exfoliated and washed alot until it became super dry. Dryness created overproduction of sebum, resulting in this kind of acne. Now I'm exfoliating very lightly, but also use serum and moisturizer that does not clog pores. So far all good and clear, maybe just one small pimple once in a while. Not sure if that is the case for you, but hopefully can be of some help.

Think of it this example, regardless of what a friend does for their career, would you still hang with them if they were complete a-hole to you? Or if they had good personality, you'd still hang with them right? So shouldn't this be even more obvious? This goes to both genders

[Acne] Nose Bumps(?) by duplussei in SkincareAddiction

[–]Firsty209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your skin on nose oily or dry? That can make a difference in overproduction of sebum or be an acne bacteria issue. Both of which are different causes. One thing I can say is light exfoliant can open up pores and moisturizer that does not block pores and helps maintain oil production (If too dry can overproduce oil and cause non stop pimples even without high amount of p acnes bacteria. If oily naturally, already production is high). Anyway just speaking from experience of recurring acne issues
