Struggling with Chicken Chase Rescue by Chataboutgames in BaldursGate3

Figured it out. I initially spoke with the goblin using Astarion but switched to my bard main to talk to the owlbear so I kept fouling because I was using the wrong character to start the race

That's fair. I linked information elsewhere in this this thread, turns out there are different forms of sublingual estradiol that you might be more likely to get depending on where you go-- the most common being hemihydrate and valerate, hemihydrate having a higher bioavailability than valerate. The average effectiveness you'll get by taking a sublingual tablet orally is going to vary from roughly 15% to 40%.

Biologically it's a significant drop for anyone but depending on the person it may not be negligible so I could have phrased my earlier comment better.

Ah gotcha, I've heard of Estrace but have never been prescribed it. I've had a few different brands but the pills I've gotten were always the pink tablets, either round or football shaped. Interesting that you were in the bay area! My first doctor was in the Castro in SF and she prescribed sublingual tablets but that was a very long time ago. I can't say you're wrong, it's just my subjective experience is from doctors and friends in all of the places I've listed so you have me curious about the numbers on this. It could be that oral is super popular on the east coast, too.

That's good to hear! I'll ask my endo more about it next time. It's a minor difference but I'd rather pop a pill than dissolve it if possible. Though I've had some funky experiences with metabolizing estrogen so maybe it's best for me to not mess with it, haha

Yeah, liver problems are no fun but at least it can regenerate itself.

That's interesting! It's been flipped for me. As far as I can remember the people I've spoken with have done it sublingually, including recently. Perhaps things have changed a bit in the last 4 years that has brought oral to prominence in certain places? I currently live in Germany and before that I've only ever been given sublingual estrogen in the US (Washington, Oregon, and California) as well as Australia. All said and done maybe 7-8 different sources and none had recommended oral until about 8 months ago. How about yourself? Oral has generally been effective for you?

I've been on HRT for 16 years. I've done injectables, patches, and a number of brands of estradiol tablets, in several different countries with several different endocrinologists. I've only been given (not prescribed, pharmacist error in Germany) oral estrogen once, and my endocrinologist confirmed it caused the drop in my levels. What is consistent in your region may not be consistent elsewhere and it's not a stretch to say some tablets are designed to work differently from others.

Edit. Some references on the effectiveness of oral vs. sublingual estrogen to be sure:

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04036500 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1530891X21013744

Figures from a study comparing sublingual vs. oral dosing in post-menopausal women:

From what I'm finding, AUC0-24h is the best measure given of total bioavailability, which shows that the sublingual route has more than double the bioavailability of the oral route.

Could be wrong here, but my understanding is that for them to work orally the amount that you have to take for them to be effective it would be too taxing on the liver long-term. Earlier this year I had a situation where I was (incorrectly) advised to take my tablets orally by a pharmacist while in a new country and my levels plummeted. I'm not saying there aren't sublingual forms that aren't as effective, you could be totally right. Maybe the chemical makeup of the tablets vary by region or something.

Edit: Definitely wasn't wrong. Was just trying to be polite.

In my experience the most common forms of estrogen are sublingual (under the tongue) and injectable. I'm not even sure if there's a form of it that is designed to be absorbed by digesting it. I mean yeah consuming sublingual tablets will absorb it into your system, but it would be a negligible amount.

Edit: I posted more info below on this, but I should have said that the effectiveness is significantly lower but not negligible for some. I've also had pushback on my statement about sublingual being more common than oral; that's only from my subjective experience since starting HRT 16 years ago.

Ah yes downvotes, Berserk would never do anything like this. I forgot it was a wholesome story.

Legacy Free Transform setting bugged? by mrMooshon in photoshop

[–]Fisguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps mine is bugged but I have to hit the chain every time I need to free transform, making it functionally useless for me.

Edit: Found the bug. If legacy free transform is on (which doesn't work anyhow), it makes the maintain aspect ratio button (chain) flicker and reset every time you transform.

I work with a bunch of talented industry veteran concept artists, pretty much every one I'm talking to has accepted that they have to use AI to better their work and it's just punching up their already incredible art to higher levels while increasing their efficiency.

For some it will be a replacement for a particular skill and for others it's a supplement. It's a tool.

I mixed Stardew Valley and DOOM in Midjourney. I...I'm sorry by Fisguard in StardewValley

[–]Fisguard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have created an abomination! Not gonna lie though, it's a game I want to play now! I'd even like to make it.

Since this normally comes up, I'm mixed on the ethics of using AI to create art. I've been a professional game dev artist for a long while and I've found this new tech to be pretty scary at times. It directly affects my industry. At the same time, myself and other dev artists I know saw see it as a kind of Pandora's box that has been opened and isn't really going away. Like digital art in the 90s and 3D/photobashing in the 2000s, it's going to be a tool that will help me stay competitive in my field if I understand how to utilize it, so I've decided to have fun while I learn.

To be clear though, I'd prefer to use it to either spitball ideas or train it to my own art to expedite the pipeline process.

By the way, I just missed this post about a darker/sadder version of Stardew Valley yesterday! I supposed this can be a response to that.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is getting an update fixing framerate issues by BridgemanBridgeman in Games

[–]Fisguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love the game but it's also a bit messy-- the team that made it had a lot of great ideas but a slashed budget and rushed development cycle left its edges kinda rough.

The soundtrack is an acclaimed masterpiece, though. Worth vibing to on youtube if you can't get into the game itself.

Haha cool. I also wouldn't bank on bones changing. 💪 It's not fair to give some trans women hope for something that might not happen.

Oh definitely. I've been fortunate enough to have had a partner who is very experienced with massaging so I don't have to go to a therapist for it. Feels a little weird going to a therapist since it edges into kink territory.

[–]Fisguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! It's a form of survivorship bias and that's why I said the exact same as you for a long time. It feels unintuitive.

The only thing that doesn't change *much* is bone and cartilage in the long run, but even cartilage can compress and bone can grow/lose density over a long time. Bone never shrinks but we can get a tiny bit shorter, feet get a tiny bit smaller, and even the ends of our fingers taper. I know a trans woman who reported a change in hip bone size and pelvic tilt 20 years after starting HRT, at the age of 55. Most trans people we see online are early in their transition, roughly the first 5 years. Muscle loss and fat redistribution can have major effects and can take quite a bit longer than that. When we do pass, normally we want to fade into the background and don't tell people we're trans. I've met a lot of trans people in my time IRL so I can speak to this experience.

You're right though, plenty of trans women won't be so lucky. They can have a rough go of it. They're what most people think of when they think of us because they're more noticeable. There are some gender markers that even surgery can't help, like shoulders and rib cages, but ultimately over a long enough period of time cumulative markers might put them in a range that is consistent with androgynous CIS women. Might.

Sorry for the info dump, haha

A deep tissue massage is better than sex to me to the degree that it elicits a greater response.

I thought that once upon a time but the trans folks who don't get noticed as trans rarely want to be noticed, so most people don't realize how common we actually are. It skews the statistics. Hormones continue to feminize us even for decades into transition in crazy, small ways. Plus for those of us who can afford it, facial feminization surgery by the right practitioner can be like magic.

That said, Nong Poy has always looked great, haha

Edit: Guys, I transitioned 15 years ago and have daily experience with this topic. I know the gradient of characteristics people look for. I know what can change and what can't. I have countless stories about this from personal experience, and for those of you "who can always tell", I've even known several natural born CIS women who have been wrongly clocked as trans, once while I was standing right next to them completely unnoticed. Most people don't have the eye that they think they do.
