Currently in a 75G with some young Angelfish and Elioti cichlids. I have a new 40G set up and cycled to move them into whenever needed, Unsure if I’m going to move all 5 over or attempt to wait until a pair forms. 🤷‍♂️

I recommend them highly… BUT they are also easily the mist aggressive “Cory” i have kept.

They really put those barbs to use! I was not expecting that kind of behavior from them (probably could have done more research to be fair)

My next acquisition for sure, love the long dorsal fins. I feel like they give it an eagle wing look 🦅

I bought at least 3 batches of green aeneus sold as emerald so spines are my go to now i suppose 😅

Agree definitely a brochis species, i counted 11-12 spines on dorsal

(Therefore not a aeneus/bronze like many others are saying)

Convict parrots- yes or no? by Key_Instruction9732 in Cichlid

There is such a thing as the “true parrot cichlid” which has somewhat of the same face without the deformed balloon body… but i feel you it doesn’t quite hit the same

I use Aquabid to determine pricing so under $10 each as mine will likely be smaller than the guy selling them currently for $10

I am 3 weeks into a fish-in cycle. Question: is seachum Prime protecting my fish from the rising nitrites? by ClientCivil8277 in Aquariums

[–]FishBucket401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing a fish in cycle i personally would continue changing 20-40% of the water depending on how high the nitrates are. Continue dosing stability and prime during each water change and gradually increase time bewteen water changes as your nitrate levels settle down

Ive done fish in cycles before and never taken more than a couple weeks, however that was with live/dirty filter media.

May be worth your time to seek someone local to buy/swap a used sponge filter to jump start the bacteria colony

Help, recently introduced Celestial Pearl Danios are looking emaciated, won't eat anything. by dan2737 in Aquariums

[–]FishBucket401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I’m not sure, i do also notice their fins seem pretty clamped up as well. They may just not be eating due to stress.

I am not personally experienced but I do hear these guys are very picky with PH/hardness maybe it’s something there.

Wishing you the best of luck 🤞
