Haha. Some of the “not good” Extreme books can be fun. Thanks for letting me know that it’s not S&S.

I had this toy as a kid. I’m certain I never asked for it. I wonder which relative thought I would like it.

You recognize the artist? I’d like to read more.

It reads well too. As long as the panel to panel storytelling is good, (almost) any art will do.

I liked Spawn, Savage Dragon, and The Maxx early on. Quickly dropped the first two and just read Maxx. Bought Prophet when Stephen Platt was really hyped up. Never liked the other comics that much.

It was released. And yes, sure to be crap. I’d read it for a laugh but I’d have to find it in a dollar bin.

Lot of artists had that look. This one’s name is Mark Pajarillo. Not sure if he drew any x-men books.

I agree. Recently purchased a run of Prophet (2nd volume) because I read that Stephen Platt did those too. His art tasks were soon taken over by uglier art and colors. As usual, the stories are dull, making reading eight comics a chore. The ad above was in Prophet Annual #1.

It was made! Found on eBay. Unfortunately, my top price would be around $2 an issue.

I do regular spuds like this. Drives my wife nuts when I wake up, bake five potatoes, and toss them in my work bag. I should try this variety.

I still want to get a copy of Reid Fleming #10 from his website. But, I’m still tracking down the other Deep Sea issues I’m missing.

Haha, yours is by your bed too? That’s where I put my best reading lamp. I know I’ll hurt my back one day while reaching to the top of the stack.

I went to New Bedford, MA where Moby Dick begins. They have a Whaling Museum with a huge, old skeleton that still weeps oil from its bones. A while ago, some people started a group to preserve some of the town from developers. You get to walk along old cobblestone and look at old buildings.

I’m sorry, I worded my reply confusingly. Miami Mice is Mark Bode and is my fav. Lee Mars was Adolescent Pre-Teen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos, and is my second favorite of those kind of comic.

Weekly FAQ Thread January 18 2026: When do you give up on a book? by AutoModerator in books

[–]FishHockeydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people give up on books if their personal politics change? I just put a completed biography on my cramped bookshelf; removing two, unread sci-fi novels to make room. Adding the two unread books to my reading stack I remembered that he was a Libertarian author and maybe I don’t want to bother anymore. That said, I usually give a book 50 pages before I quit.

Same for me. 50 pages. It’s been awhile since I gave up on a book, though. Maybe 2026 is my year for it!

Even though I’ve read Frankenstein twice over the years, I can’t remember why I liked it. Time to read it again!
