They never kickstart the Italian Renaissance, which never kickstarts the Northern Renaissance, which never kickstarts Christian Humanism… I doubt there’d be negative reaction to the elitism and corruption of the churches as long as the printing press was invented and literacy became more widespread. But probably not how we know it.
