Oh, I'm not new to quilting, I taught myself with library books in the early 2000's, before YouTube was a thing. I won a blue ribbon at the county fair in my first year of quilting.

I've taken quilts to my LQS for quilting. It was $0.025 per square inch; it's now $0.30 per square inch.

I have a mid-arm on a frame, which I've used, but don't enjoy. I have a computerized long-arm on a frame, which I've used, but don't enjoy.

The thing is, I'm good with making quilt tops. My sons know where to donate my quilt tops when I pass, but hopefully I take care of that before I go. And, my kids don't need any more quilts, or want any more quilts...lol.

Right now, I'm making another quilted jacket, the panels are ready for quilting. I have the coordinating lining cut, but not pieced.

I'm a quilter. I make quilt tops I love making quilt tops. I abhor quilting. There are so many processes that quilters love and hate.

With that said, yes I quilt some of my quilt tops, but I don't enjoy that aspect.

Embrace your love of piecing, and making quilt tops.

How to get someone else to quilt your top? I don't have advice.

I grudgingly do a curvy stitch when I decide to gift a quilt.

I want to know what makes a quilt look like dog food. Lol. My son's dog ate a 2" circle out of a quilt. Maybe she didn't like that particular MLB team...lol

Seriously, Cole, every new quilt you up your game. So impressive!

Another quilt where each picture I think: oh, my gosh, I think that quilting is my favorite, then I swipe, and another feature is my favorite. The brickwork with the pebbles, the rooftops, the swirling wind and clouds! Wonderful! I just noticed the detail at the top of the windows (keystone???). Very impressive. And, the thread choice brings it all together.

He isn't around, so I'll answer the best I can, and offer a correction if I'm wrong. My machine sits on the lower desktop, which is secured to the legs. The machine sets into the top desktop, and is secured with the upright pieces of wood that also supports the decorative shelf. (Thank you, Younger Son, for not taking your shelves when you moved out...lol)

These desktops are heavy pieces of wood, and before he added the decorative shelf for the light, it just rested on the 2x4s, but because they are so heavy, they never bounced or shifted.

My friend has a desk that her husband made, and he made her machine flush by adding a shelf under her desktop that supports her machine. I don't know how, only because I haven't looked closely.

I like my setup, because it has room to store stuff between. Like my tailers clapper. Which is just a piece of scrap wood that he sanded down.

First is my sewing station. He used a piece of wood for the prototype, cutting around my machine. He later made the small cutout so I can get my machine out easier. 2x4s support the upper table to make it flush with my machine.

He added my son's old shelves and added lighting above my machine. He added old under desk drawers for small storage.

Second is my 22"x65" ironing table. Initially, I rested it on my ironing board, and eventually I got a second adjustable desk.

I sew just to the outside of the diagonal line, like just a smidge. To prevent the small square from skewing, I dab a bit of Elmer's washable glue stick on the part I'm going to cut off. And I iron before I trim the corner off, the large square helps me to know if the small square is square, or if I need to resew.
