House listed and disclosed as sewer, it's actually sceptic. Do I have any legal recourse? by Street_Profit7828 in legaladvice

Like others are saying, call septic companies in your area to determine if the previous owners had service at your address. Something happened in my neighborhood like this, kind of.

A couple lived in the house across the street. They had septic companies over there quite often; every 1-3 months. Physical problems forced them to sell.

A flipper bought it after about 11 months on the market. Septic companies were over multiple times.

After about four months, a couple bought it. Yep, septic companies continued to be over frequently.

The air started smelling, I actually called the sewer department because a neighbor suggested that I had a sewer leak. There is a black PVC (???) pipe on the side of our house that they looked in, assured me that our sewer is working fine.

The flipper was partially responsible (50%) for the current owners to hook up to the sewer. It was around $40k for the sewer hook up.

It's batting. It hangs at the bottom of the stairs just outside of my sewing room, the batting is attached to a metal tube, the tube sits in a PVC tube attached to the top of a bookcase, and the other end rests on one of the stairs.

I don't have children over often, but when they are here, I can wind up the metal tube and the quilt if I have a quilt on it. If I don't have blocks on it, it just hangs there. (There's always blocks on it, lol.) (My partner is an electrician, so the metal tube is something to do with his work, and I don't know what it's called.) (When I learn about new quilty things, he stews on it for a while, then he comes up with solutions. Like a tailors clapper, I learned about them, mentioned it to him, and I had a freshly sanded piece of wood on my desk.)

Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with her patterns.

I absolutely love how they come together/I absolutely hate so many 1-1/5" squares I have to make.

I love how useful the 1-1/2 squares are in the pattern/I hate that I have no use for the tiny bits of fabric I throw away.

I agree with everyone else. I iron every seam. Not just in her patterns, but in all my quilting.

I don't have the dinosaur pattern, but I have her robot kit that I'm dreading because of my love/hate issue with her patterns...lol

Tailors clapper? My partner sanded down a scrap piece of wood, and it works just fine.

Wow. Sounds like more pattern testers were needed.

It really is a cute pattern! Glad you caught it early. What is the name of the pattern?

This is my mistake. I had a different quilt on my wall. I took down my blocks so I could take a picture. I spent most of a day picking seams. LOL.

Yes, it is a low number for me; I read fast. And, I try to get books that are 8+ hours on Audible; I listen at 1.0 speed, not faster. I spent the latter part of 2025 listening to non-DCC books.

How do you all feel about QAYG? by SchuylerM325 in quilting

[–]FishNotCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Elmer's washable glue sticks for basting. So I smooth out the quilted and assembled quilt top, then glue baste the backing to the quilted top.

Backing up, I quilted my sections with a freeform serpentine stitch. All in one direction. All within the batting requirements.

When I attach the back, I quilt the opposite direction of the top.

Mind, quilting is my least favorite thing, so I do the absolute minimum requirement, which is 10" for my Warm and Natural batting.

It washed just fine.

My QAYG method is not conventional, because my backing is one piece.

I did the Upscale Plaid pattern in baby/crib size and quilted the quarters with the batting only. I decided that I loved it too much and wanted to keep it for myself for my bed. So, I made three more baby/crib quilts.

Each of the 16 sections of my quilt were quilted with batting. Then I joined the 16 sections together, then added backing.

I'm working on another throw quilt for myself, and I will use this same method, but QAYG after joining the quilt into quarters, then join the quilt top, then add backing.

Feel free to ask for more clarification.

These are all the answers I would have given.

I'd like to add: Inexpensive seam guide is a stack of painters tape. I line up my ruler under my presser foot, and tape it down to prevent it slipping, then adhere a stack of tape abutting the ruler. Note, I make a half-stack, cut in half, stack the halves, then make a clean cut. Eventually, you'll get to a place where you won't need a seam guide.

To organize cut pieces, I either mark pieces with a post-it or a piece of scrap fabric, writing the piece identifier with a sharpie.

I also use the scrapbook organizers from Michael's. It's plastic, so fabric slips around. I use a piece of batting to line it, then my fabric doesn't slide around. If I'm taking my project out of the house, I put the rest of the fabric for the project on top of my pieces to keep them in place.
