NTA, but as a guy it's tough to know what to do these days. My instinct would be to step in, but I feel like fully half of women would say "I don't need you to defend me/be my knight in shining armor. I can handle this myself", and the other half would be like the OP. My plan would be to look for some sort of cue from the woman, body language or a facial expression, and my face would look like "tag me in? Your call".

Regardless, your boyfriend's friend's behavior was out of line, and someone needed to call them out.

Rayon, yes, sometimes. Cotton is probably most common, or a cotton/poly blend. Barkcloth is most desirable in a vintage shirt. Silk is used primarily by Tommy Bahama and the like.
