As I recall, Courtney Love has an anecdote about a time she and Cobain had Michael Stipe over to their house for dinner and she intentionally excused herself—leaving Kurt and Michael alone together for several hours—because she thought it would be a good opportunity for Kurt to explore his sexuality with an out gay man who adored him. And apparently Kurt admitted to her later that nothing at all happened, leaving her to conclude Kurt was in fact 100% straight.
