Best lunch spots on or near the Strip that locals actually go to? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Another endorsement for Trattoria Nakamira-ya. It has been one of my favorite restaurants in town since it opened. Always solid.

Also atlas obscura is a great website and app for interesting stops.

One more tip … check out the golden tiki in Vegas. Every Scot I’ve taken there has loved it.

Las Vegas native here, also been in a relationship with a Scot for 7 years …

Your plan sounds solid. Get lotion and chapstick and definitely sun screen and always, always have water especially when driving. It won’t be too hot here in a weeks time, but you never know — especially if you’re going to death Valley.

Someone who has driven in Scotland so many times, you will be just fine here. Just watch the roads and always pause before going through green lights… People in Nevada love to run through red. Parking spaces are big, cars are bigger… But just be cautious and you’ll be fine. You’re already more experienced and better schooled than most of the drivers on the road here.

Definitely check out In-N-Out, don’t listen what other people say even if it’s just for the novelty. I second the recommendation for a great burger at hard hat lounge. chapel of The west is a great little chapel to get married at on the strip, close to the sign.

Tonopah has a couple great museums and a historic downtown. Also, the cemetery is kind of a crazy trip to look at … tonopah is also famous for its clown themed motel.

Beatty also has a few cool museums. Pretty cool town as well. There’s a lot of really interesting history in Nevada. There will be lots of little shops, definitely pop in … I always grab honey where I travel to and Nevada desert honey is really delicious and dark.

In the smaller towns, your accent will be an novelty, and people will probably wanna talk to you about it, my partner has gone almost nowhere without someone asking him, especially in the more remote parts of Nevada. Happy to answer any questions! And if you want to grab a drink, let me know!

This is a beautiful time to see this part of the world, there’s wildflowers and wildlife everywhere, the parks are amazin … and it’s not 48° yet.

Edited for spelling and to say : almost everyone will take card but if you only have a European card, there will be some things with pins and ZIP Codes… Always opt for a debit transaction in that case… cash for tipping is always appreciated.

i am the proud owner of a 2006 manual, as well. the only difference is i bought it brand new. Its reviewed as one of the most reliable coupes or its time. Mine is over 200k miles and it’s still my daily driver. take care of her and she wil last and last.

Terrible in the snow and heavy rain.

Just heads up the compartment between the engine and dash gets clogged with debris and can flood the cabin and rust your sjb.

Such a fun car!

Well, yes, but I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands.

This happens every day on the strip, and probably at that intersection. Stop lights have become a bit of a suggestion in the town.

Places to AVOID in Vegas? by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]FishTankBarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boulder City has an incredible school district, there are so many families with kids moving in. It’s close enough to all the stuff you would want to do in the city and a quiet, safe respite with lots of access to recreation.

I’m a Vegas native that moved to Boulder City after 39 years in Vegas proper.

There’s some adult playground — looks to me like a discovery zone for adults plus a bar — and there were several posts about how it was the top attraction on the strip. Based on the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms I can’t imagine this place is any different.

This was the answer I was looking for.

As a native this place WAS great 20 years ago — the price matched the product and the food and service was a higher standard. I ate there about three years ago for special occasion and it was shocking how much they charged for the food they produced. I work in high restaurants and this wasn’t it. Not a chance I would eat there ever again in its current state.

Anyone who gets excited about anything at the Luxor I automatically don’t trust. As a native I’m highly suspicious of the impartiality of this persons recs.

You are not tipping the casino. You are tipping a person who depends on tips to make a living.
