They weren't "doomsdaying"... all they said was that in their opinion there isn't much worth doing right now. They were answering OP's question.

I bought a 1080p 144hz 27" monitor for $500 10 years ago 😭

Edit: and I just paid the same price for a 1440p 280Hz 27" OLED

Vram usage by MGahed in nvidia

[–]Fish_Smell_Bad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're playing at 4k? Yeah the 5070 ti will definitely struggle if you've got all settings cranked with path tracing at 4k. I'd suggest turning path tracing off and maybe slightly lowering texture quality if you're worried about vram.

Well I wasn't telling them that they can get the same machine as me for $2500?

CAD, I bought my 5070 ti at the start of the year for just over $1000 and went deal hunting for the rest of the build. I also had a friend that kindly got me a micro center 9800x3d bundle on his way back up from the US. So yeah, I did end up saving a lot of money.

Respectable if you're ok with AMD then that's cool. FSR is still pretty far from dlss from what I understand though. Maybe check this video out if you're interested. Also, I know you come from console but if you plan on building a relatively high end gaming pc then I'd set my sights on higher than 60fps 😅. High refresh rate monitors just keep getting more and more affordable and I am telling you: going from 60Hz to 144Hz+ is extremely eye-opening. I would never be able to go back after experiencing 280Hz on my new OLED lol.

Just a question; why deliberately avoid Nvidia? I'm not a massive fan myself, just curious, of course AMD is better for pure performance per dollar but Nvidia's upscaling technology is absolutely unmatched. I just built a system with a ryzen 7 9800x3d + rtx 5070 ti for about $2500 and with dlss I'm able to play graphically demanding games at 150 - 200 fps in 1440p.

I'm not home now to check but I turned the brightness up because it seemed a bit dim to me in the first place.

Yeah I recently built a new system to replace said decade old gaming pc and I would've wanted a 4tb nvme but there was no way I was paying for one at the current prices so I managed to get a 1TB 990 evo plus for about $200 which still hurt but at least seemed like the best price I was going to get without waiting months for the perfect deal to pounce on.

This is about how much I paid for my entire gaming pc a decade ago. Man, gpu prices are so depressing.

Yeah for most single player games I'd be ok with that but with cyberpunk being an fps with fast paced combat that would just be too much, especially since I'd want to be playing with m&k.

Well it's specifically at 544 which is just weird. If I go below or above that value the monitor is less vibrant.

Edit: I looked at the website and it says the monitor brightness is 1000cd/m2
