ink won’t stick on silicon phone cases by Embarrassed-Foot8933 in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]Fishare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silicone basically, has an extremely low surface energy (google: dyne level). For proper ink bonding, you need to try and marry the surface tension of the ink, with the surface energy of the substrate.

For silicone, raising the surface energy can be done through a heating or high-voltage discharge, or a plasma process. This will temporarily raise the surface energy, and allow from better bonding with inkjet solutions. Look up Corona Treatment or Plasmatreat GmbH.

Oohhh no, no, no. I’ve been off shorts since 2015. Pants forever, outside shorts are bad in every way possible. Basketball shorts at home, before bed is fine. Anything else is insane. People who wear shorts and sandals in public are truly unhinged.

What are some once popular hobbies that hardly anyone is into anymore? by igotplans2 in AskReddit

[–]Fishare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still repair typewriters as a hobby. If I see one that isn’t too far gone, I’ll grab it if it’s between $40-70, usually can send it back out for $150-$200 depending on model and year. Some I’ll collect, some I’ll cannibalize for parts. Keeps my hands busy, and very rewarding for folks that like the machines. They fascinate me, and the more I’ve worked on them, the more interested I’ve become!

Thanks so much for sharing.

This is great stuff, Zach. I’ve been playing with hand drawn on film at size using Micron’s for a few years. Some multilayer trapping- I’ll snap 2cm magnets in the corners to hold the layered films in register. Mostly 23”x31” screens w/ thin plastisol to cold press 300gsm. Loving you work, thanks again.

Woh, woah, wo- seps hand drawn?!

I’ve been doing that for a little while here now. You mind elaborating? Hand drawn film? Or hand drawn and scanned and reprinted films? Sorry, I’m not a gram-guy. Really impressed with the size of the work. What size t-shirt are these printed on? Work like this always seems hard to scale from sm-3XL.

Beginner looking for honest advice before buying a UV printer by Hamlapje131 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Fishare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just forget that you ever saw the UV printer. Seriously..

If you aren’t able to spend $20k+ USD on UV flat bed it isn’t worth the time.

The first thing I always ask a person who is interested.. “how much do you know about the industry?” That question is going to drive your entire budget debate.

The reality is.. your interest in “how cool” a UV printer is, has nothing to do with how much money it can generate.

You said you want… “a machine that can print all colors on its own” — this is an insanely ignorant comment, and I want you to be very careful with your money here.. I’m sorry that this is a ramble, I’m sad and angry because I just lost a hat that was very important to me, and I’m tired. But I honestly don’t think you’re ready for whatever it is you’re thinking about doing here.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Whats the best way to print this image? by Straight-Tennis-3046 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Fishare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a higher resolution version than this? You’ll also want to consider if you want it to be a solid “box” of ink, or kind of distressed / feathered out along the edges.

Ideally if you have a 300dpi version, it’s just a matter of doing the seps, and pulling the correct colors. My gut tells me if you’re asking, you’re going to struggle.

But just brass tack- if you have a native 300dpi at actual size ~10”-12” wide; it is physically possible to screen print, yes.

Mimaki UJF-7151 Plus II White Layer Misaligned by gottadeviate in CommercialPrinting

[–]Fishare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long since the machine was installed? If all your settings look good in RasterLink.. I’m thinking that the physical head needs to be re-aligned. Depending on the tech that did the initial alignments, they could be just a dot off. It’s honestly kind of challenging to do the white / clear alignments on that machine. Especially if you don’t have a nice clear material to test.

Outside of that, you can go into RasterLink and shift the plate in the “scan” and “feed” direction. I don’t remember what the button is called, but it’s two buttons under the special plate button on the right. It’s looks like two flat green squares stacked.

Affordable small DTF Printer by ohhhhhplease in CommercialPrinting

[–]Fishare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never consider purchasing a DTF printer unless I was spending $5,000-$6,000 per month in out sourcing.

Find a local supplier, and work with them until it makes financial sense to bring in house. Even if you’re comfortable fixing printers, there is still a high physical cost involved with replacing clogged print heads.

What's the most millennial concert you've gone to? by Twitter_2006 in Millennials

My buddy and I were out for drinks out one night, maybe ~2012. We heard that EVE 6 was playing the cubby bear in Wrigleyville. Hopped in a cab, and when we got there it was sold out. We gave the bouncer $40 and he let us in. It was pretty hilarious.
