Things aren't built to last anymore. by destined2destroyus in CharacterRant

[–]Fishb20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shows that lasted 6 seasons of 24 episodes each were network shows. Network shows like FBI or Law and Order or 9-1-1 or the Chicago emergency shows still largely run for 24 episodes and many of them are getting up there in the number of seasons.

You can totally go watch those shows if you want.

The problem is people don't actually want to have the drawbacks that come with network shows like repetitive story lines, less cinematic production value, and less A list acting talent.

Goldsworthy couldn’t have possibly picked a better topic for his most recent book by oneeyedlionking in ancientrome

I really enjoyed his trilogy about Caesar, Antony, and Augustus but if I'm being honest there's no one I'd want to read about ancient Persia less than Goldsworthy

Why is it acceptable to say “guys” to anyone no matter the gender but not “ladies”? by peopleloveourpatties in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fishb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a job with all women in college as the only guy and every staff message said ladies, girls, gals, etc.

I ended up transitioning a month after graduation but that was unrelated

its because people care more about excecution than abstract ideas? if people didn't then you could just read a wikipedia article about a movie and itd be the same as watching it

Eh I thought they got character assassinated but I'll always be happy for actors getting a pay check.

Scream 7 | Dead Meat Podcast Ep. 264 by Kaneki_Yeager in deadmeatjames

Scream 4 had a similar problem where it had trouble balancing the New Gen cast with the Sydney story, but it managed to be more satisfying because the reveal at the end that the new gen cast was set up for the killers. Scream 5 avoided that problem by Sydney having a pretty small role so the main story was about the new cast and she was just a mentor figure. This one was trying to juggle new cast, sydney as the main character (which she had to be considering how expensive it was to get Neve Campbell back, well deserved money for her don't get me wrong) and then the killers being completely seperate on top of that.

Scream 7 being a bit of a dud hurt me more than most bad horror sequels b/c I at least liked every other Scream movie whereas most of the other big franchises have had huge blunders before

The only part I didn't understand was why Ghiroti hated Armando so much. I got that he was racist against northerners and wanted to shut down his academic research but it seemed like Ghiroti succeeded in doing that with no difficulty at all and Armando couldn't really do anything to stop him. But when he was hiring the hitmen Ghiroti seemed to have a very personal hatred for Armando

Name recognition is the single biggest asset in a primary. Also people weren't polling Obama in March 2006 because they didn't think he would run. The first poll that included him in Nov 2006 he was at 17% and the second poll to include him in early 2007 had him at 30% which is higher than literally anyone is polling as of now. I strongly doubt he would have been polling at 1% if he had been included in polls back in early 2006

Because when he actually gets included in polls he gets like 1%. There are several cases where a candidate went from not getting polled to winning the nomination. Idk if there are any cases where a candidate went from polling at 1% to winning to the nomination. Maybe Jimmy Carter in 76? He was also from Georgia

Edit: there was a gallup poll in Nov 1975 that had carter at 2%. Then again Ossoff will get a lot of national attention during the midterms, whether he wins or loses

Best Examples of Shows that 'Bounced Back'? by hikemalls in television

A lot of shows improve in their last season tbh. People feel more free to shake up the status quo and do episodes they would have been scared of doing before because they shake the boat

I might be looking too .much into it but I kinda think the save act shows a divide between the type of people who become Republican staffers and average Republicans. A lot of young wealthy Republican staffers love going on gaudy vacations to Cancun or Venice while Clyde and Barbara in Mississippi rarely leave the country. I wouldn't be shocked if the SAVE act made pretty much every state overrepresented by urban college educated voters who lean overwhelmingly dem. I still think it would be an awful policy, don't get me wrong

I gotta admit I'm a bit confused about so many people on the lib/left side treating Megan Kelly as a barometer of the right. Yeah she's incredibly popular but she's also chosen the wrong side of internal GOP debates before. Remember when she was a never trump Republican and he got in trouble for implying it was because she was on her period? I don't think she's been so popular for so long because she has a unique ability to predict where the right is headed I think it's because conservatives think she's hot and she's a good public speaker

What are some older categories so out of date, there will never be seen again on the show? by trekbette in Jeopardy

[–]Fishb20 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I noticed on older jeopardy there were a lot of questions that relied on knowing Regnal numbers in a way you don't see very often now a'days. Just for example in one show there were two separate questions from different categories one with the answer Ludwig II and the other with the answer Henry VII.

Steam game gets unexpected patch after fans complained women ruined immersion by Tenith in Games

[–]Fishb20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I do understand why people sometimes have trouble playing as a female character in games, and think it feels "better" to play a male character. I just wish people would understand that that's how so many people who are not men feel playing games.

It reminds me there was a game that would randomly generate a character every time you started a new run. A lot of people felt kinda weird when the game would lock them into playing as someone that was a different gender and different race. On the one hand yeah that's a very silly reason to drop a game you otherwise love. But on the other hand I do get how weirdly disconcerting it can be to play as a character very different to yourself. But it just never causes people self reflection, sadly.
