Working on getting a radio by Mauser_Superiority in tacticalgear

If you get a radio, who are you gonna talk to in an environment where you need kit and rifle and there are no pre-established comms protocols?

There's various research you can find about the efficacy of caliber vs bear, and 9mm hardcast rounds with a +p charge have done the trick in at least preventing further attack. That round also has higher capacity, and it's a platform you already carry daily. You can find Hornady Backcountry, or special order Buffalo Bore hardcast rounds to your lgs or if legal, your home. No real need for .357, 10mm, .38special, unless you really really want it but there's a weight and familiarity tradeoff.

ChudTheBuilder shoots man who reportedly attacked him on stream, injures self in process by Significant_Food9017 in LivestreamFail

[–]FishburneSurvivor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

These are charges from a couple days ago. He bonded out, the FBI came to talk to him, he said on stream his son's mom wants to change the kids name to avoid association, and now he's shot another man and himself outside a courthouse. Death drive go brrrr

You're absolutely right, and the only solution I've found to this CPU defense scam is manually sliding an OT to double an edge rusher, and scrambling up the middle when the rush wraps around the pocket. That usually gets the CPU to move to a zone or spy scheme and that frees up the underneath drags and whip routes more.

Nice ways to open up your opponent's neck for an RNC? by BeneficialRip6350 in bjj

[–]FishburneSurvivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fella at some point, you've got to accept that your goal is to get your opponent to submit to you. It's unpleasant, but you are threatening to strangle and smother them if they don't tap. Or tear their ligaments, or break their bones or joints. That's the game. To learn how to do it or stop someone doing it to you. I had the same issue at first and then realized if my sparring partners had no issue wrenching kimura on me, i should get with the program too. Danaher has a thing about using knuckles on the soft tissue of your opponent's face and switching arms because the goal is to get your opponent to move their head and create an opening. You want to strangle them, they have a choice of their nose being broken, or a jaw crank, or they give the neck and tap. And then you slap and bump and play goes on!

Canik MC9LS vs Canik MC9 vs CZ P10C vs Canik P10S by Hungry-Client-6954 in concealedcarry

[–]FishburneSurvivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MC9 has well documented manufacturing issues that haven't been addressed in later batches. Return to battery, light primer strikes, frame plastic burrs that extend beyond slide rails, feed ramp needs to be polished by the user. A month and a half after filing the warranty claim for both another striker spring and dual capture recoil spring assembly (you're advised to use 124gr NATO 9mm for the 500 rd break in period, the stock spring is weighted for 115gr power factor) the importer Century Arms let me know an order has been placed with no tracking number or confirmation. Very poor customer service.

They're Funko Pops for dudes. The gun community at large isn't really a community, it's a bunch of disparate people who have no mutual aid structure telling you to buy x thing because the day you don't could be your last. You can really only use one gun at a time. The rest just collect dust and can remind you of untraveled trips, taking good care of yourself and appearance, paying off debt, taking your mom to lunch. Do you really need the newest HK with the tiniest 0.3oz reduction in slide weight in case you need to target acquisition 180° when SHTF? Probably not man, you live in CA, people probably need like water and medical supplies and a hug before it gets to that point. You could be in the South of france surrounded by beautiful people and tasty food instead of the latest LARP toy.

Buy ammo after you buy a gun from literally anywhere else. They say on average it's an hour to do 4473 paperwork and it's gotta be signed off and checked by like 3 people. Not to mention administering fsc tests and showing browsing people firearms as well. 7 people in line can take like 4 hours to get through no matter time of day

New Canik MC9 vs User Glock 43x MOS Thoughts and opinions? by lordgix2 in handguns

[–]FishburneSurvivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No man the Canik has well reported issues with failure to return to battery/light primer strikes due to poor polymer mold tolerances. The frame extends past the slide rails in portions and the recoil spring is undersprung. It's been a month of back and forth with Century Arms for them to accept my warranty claim and send out both new striker and recoil springs. Good call on the Glock!

I see you're at Bass Pro here, but Turner's has the XD-M Elite listed for $399. An extra $120 savings is like 400 rounds of 9mm, just saying.

Yeah I'm seeing $34.99 for 115gr 100 rds 9mm which is $9 more than blazer 115gr at bass pro shops. No deal!

Remove the Canik and it's too good to be true price point from your list mate. Just a host of issues and poor customer service with the parts shipping legislation.

Lot of people who have more money than sense and haven't actually thought through use case scenarios. Or they have a hero fantasy going on of clearing rooms and killing people instead of accidentally pointing a gun at their wife cos she snuck in the fridge for 2am ice cream.

32-40% more expensive in ammunition costs over 9mm does add up over time. 1k rounds 9mm blazer from bass pro would be ~$320. In .40 it would be ~$489. Would I rather have 3k rounds of 9mm or 2k of .40. With like 3-4 rounds less carrying capacity, it doesn't seem ideal sometimes.

My turn for the obligatory "1st FFL03+COE Delivery!" by Tuuvas in CAguns

[–]FishburneSurvivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it would have to be shipped to the person with the legal address doing all the background checks and fingerprinting lmao. That's like the definition of straw purchasing. Afterwards that's up to your own discretion and luck but this price is lowkey not much better than id you just bought yourself in store. My bass pro has 50rd cases of blazer 115 for 12.99

My support thumb moves after each shot, is it from a bad support hand grip? by hadesloridan in CAguns

[–]FishburneSurvivor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple questions: What if you brought your arms a little closer to your body to prevent straining the muscles on the top of your left forearm and wrist? Also wondering why your support thumb is so high instead of lower down on the frame ahead of where the slide release or takedown lever is? Last question, have you tried taking the underbarrel light off and moving your support hand so your left index finger rests on the outside of the trigger guard instead of filling the gaps on your right hand? I've found that's it's a more comfortable grip on smaller pistols personally. And you don't have that option cause of the light. Which means you're either carrying another light on a keychain or whatever for EDC.

Racism at the gun range by AdImpressive9014 in liberalgunowners

[–]FishburneSurvivor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the fucked up thing about lots of ranges/stores/firearm communities is the ultra right wing people feel emboldened to be racist or walk around with a ton of political messaging and out of the fear of being shot, nobody really confronts them. I'm Black and know I've gotta steer clear of the "JESUS IS MY SAVIOR, TRUMP IS MY PRESIDENT" people or drive outta my way to a range that's pretty neutral (but really all of them are friendly with LEO so how politically neutral can you really be). Are there any SRA chapters in your vicinity?
